has anyone been having any luck pike fishing in south west scotland recently? i done an all nighter at a place called kelhead water recently and never had a touch. there was also folk from n.e england who had been there for 3 nights and never caught a thing. there is definately pike in there because i have caught them myself and also seen nice ones being caught. is it just one of them things or is everywhere round here fishing like that? any input or suggestions welcome many thanks

it would have to be a 1/2 cross bull greyhound put over a 1/2 cross dogo argentino greyhound. what a cross that would be! it would have a good height about it too. with the heart of a lion. the ideal killing machine in my eyes!

my deepest dig
hunting_mad_jock_lad replied to hunting_mad_jock_lad's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
its a shame you's cant see the bottom half of me!!! i was caked in mud it was in my boots and everything! there was 4 of us digging that day. we were also changing over when it collapsed so were very lucky that way!! and i was standing on a ledge there. im 6 foot 2 so you can get a rough idea how big it was for me. -
here is a pic of the deepest dig ive been involved in,it was 14 foot and lasted all day. we were digging on a sandy banken and when we were about 2 foot from the terrier the sides started to cave in. so we had to dig all that out too. the result was a heavily pregnant vixen.the picture was taken abroad.

harbour/river mullet
hunting_mad_jock_lad replied to hunting_mad_jock_lad's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
i was using 12 foot match rod 4lb mainline line to 3lb htn. i used a stick float to start with then changed to a bubble float to give extra casting distance. the fish were circling round my bait and looked like they would take anything. they were even circling round the float and knocking it off course of were i wanted it to go! its so frustrating -
how do you mean this type of hunting? in my eyes the huntsman was excercising his hounds when the ladies dog approached the hounds which resulted in it being attacked. then the hunt compensated the ladie for her loss. no-one likes losing a pet but accidents do happen and she was more than compensated for vets bills etc. so in my eyes good on the hunt they could have turned nasty and giver her nothing!

harbour/river mullet
hunting_mad_jock_lad replied to hunting_mad_jock_lad's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
when the fish were rolling on top of the water and sticking there fins and tails out, i seriously thought about the net!!!! were gonna go back on friday night or saturday so will try groundbaiting with bread. were even going to try fishing through the night to see if that produces better results. going pike fishing on friday morning so the mullet will have to wait!! any more help will be thankfully received
