  1. And as regards to culling. If i havent got work/room for them and my close friends havent got work/room for them, i see no point in selling them into a massively overcrowded market for them to suffer some undesireable fate. I have been fortunate enough to inherit a vasectomised hob off a friend from this site, has been a godsend and has allowed me not to breed my jills whilst keeping them fit and healthy. Anyone with more than 4 or 5 jills should have a vasectomised hob, great tool, decent worker too, if you fancy a dig now and again(hes massive). lol
  2. ''cant you sale them as pets or pass on to a resue''. Possibly one of the most ridiculous posts ive read on here. Its not the fact i couldnt get rid of them, i see too many people who dont treat them as they should be, getting rid as soon as it soots them. Ill be the first to dispose of a feret that doesnt work, a good worker is worth its weight in gold to me personally I would ONLY sell to working homes, there are pleanty of toy breed dogs you can dress up for show. Ferrets are a working animal, and should remain so imo.
  3. Christ, you could bag that soil and sell it to gardeners. LOL, nice dig, and a nice sensible post. Cheers
  4. Sgf, i am awaiting feedback from another member on his binos. To make it worthwhile, the price would have to be £850 to justify letting him down, he is offering a better price. Thakyou very much for the offer, if you would consider letting them go for my price either PMme or post back here. Thanks again.
  5. ''can i ask how many you breed a year'' I have never bred a ferret to date. My first two jills i made the fatal mistake of neutering them, bad mistake, theyve turned out to be the best working ferrets i have ever owned or seen, still working now at over 9 years old and would be overjoyed if i could keep their strain. I have a white(6 years old) jill who is a brilliant ferret who i am breeding off this year, if i can find a small working hob. If you breed shit ferrets, you get shit kits, there the same as dogs. If i breed my best jill i will only give out to my best pals, keep the re
  6. Interesting cross. All the best with them.
  7. Woudnt buy any of these 'shop bought ferrets' you speak of, personally i have never seen any for sale in pet shops and would stay well clear. Buy a wee jill (preferably 2, there very social animals), must be off good WORKING stock and everything should fall into place. Read right through this section and buy a few books, try and go out with someone experienced first (to see if you like it before you buy an animal that needs looking after).
  8. Whats the breed pal, if you dont mind me asking? Ta
  9. If its what he wants to do i think he should go for it. You only live once, why spend it doing something you dont want because the moneys a bit better, moneys not everything. If your heart aint in it dont bother, ive seen countless give it a go and fail, the ones who succeed have the best job in the world.
  10. ''russels are shit mate never seen a good one in 30 years'' To be fair mate, youve probably never seen a good terrier full stop. What as horrid comment to come out with. LOL
  11. 'you might fare better if you also put up the dams hip score and eye test result. Also theres no such thing as a gold or a white lab....they come in yellow, black or chocolate and no other colour. ' You actually get fox red aswell, but i agree if you dont have eye test and hip score, not worth that much, give the pedigree of Dam and Sire.
  12. Ferret 22, not saying your a mug. I regularly pay a tenner for my kits, why not. I was replying about breeding so many kits, why theres so many in rescues.
  13. Just call them holes or earths. Calling them setts can imply something different.
  14. If folk would stop breeding sh1te in the hope some mug will pay £20 upwards there would be no ferrets in a rescue. My ferrets see alot of graft, and i am only considering breeding out my best one because i need stock. People breed for the sake of it, adds to the problem.
  15. Asked about a fair bit and the general concensus is go for the Barryvox pulse kit. Guy called Bryan sells them direct off this site. Just waiting on mine arriving, got let down badly by a deben MK1 knocker box after years of faithfull service, so a change was in order. Hope this helps.
  16. My pal had a black and white greyhound from tipperary in ireland, it was one of the gamest dogs i had seen, would kill literaly anything and was constantly 'switched on', unfortunately it was as brittle as a stick, ended up with a short career. It was used purely for daytime work and wasnt much bigger than a well bred coursing whippet. I wouldnt go there personally, go for a dog bred specifically for purpose, ive yet to see a greyhound that can take the same level of work as a good lurcher. just my opinion though.

    RSPCA

People hate the RSPCA because they think theyre a law onto themselves, and try and feck genuine working dogmen and gamekeepers at every turn. 99% despise people who work dogs/animals, most of them are just glorified anties.
  18. But whats the point in having them at all if they cannot do what they were bred to do? Theyre juse pets then, unless you do rabbits.
  19. This is what is sent them:- Countryfiles coverage of hare coursing on sunday 6th december was not only extremely biased it was factually incorrect on many levels. The bbc should be ashamed at such a level of poor broadcasting. By saying people with running dogs do it for their 'sick pleasure' gives us all a bad name as does saying the dogs 'rip the hare apart'. There is a massive difference between legitimate terrier work and this so called 'badger baiting', john Craven wouldnt know a badger if it bit him on the arse. Now every Tom ,Dick and Harry out for a walk with terriers or lurchers wi
  20. WILF you are dead right. This pisspot government is out next election, so there is a possibility for a repeal. If ever there was a time to smarten up our image, its now. Or is that exactly why the BBC have shown this document...hmm. Paint us all in a bad light so the next leaders wont have the bottle to overturn the ban.
  21. Jac rabbit, the reason I personally was hostile to you earlier on was when you posted on the countryfile topic that you literally knew feck all about both hare coursing and digging with terriers, fair enough. BUT You then went on to say to the farmer chap who was complaining about hare coursers, you would be happy to be his 'eyes and ears' for some rabbiting permission and you would happily grass any hare coursers you seen. So dont come on here with the woe is me story (cant find a smiley with a violin) You were clearly sucked in by the sensationalist crap on countryfile which shows your
  22. 10x42 are highly reccomended by the lads he works with, certain times of the year when hes spying for hours in a day hes wanting the right mag. Ill have a look at ebay worldwide, cheers.
  23. Where is the best place (cheapest preferably) to buy swarovski binos. If i could get second hand it would be ideal, but very rarely sold and none on e bay at the moment. Need to be specifically 10x42 EL model. For my young brother starting a keepering career. After shelling out a grand on a scope, £1400 on binos is very steep! Any advice welcomed.
  24. 'so they can GRASSS on losers who think they can do what they like and have no respect for the land or livestock' I have no respect for people who abuse our sport and give it a bad name, but grassing on them to the police is not the way to go, if it leads to a prosecution it is another statistic for the anties and only helps light up the sport. Grasses of any kind, whether you think you right or not, should not be toilerated. Especially on this site, we have enough of them already.
