  6. not getting into any arguements, if i can put plenty of rabbits in the van to keep the farmer happy and preserve my sport for the winter, am not making any apologies. if i said i was ferreting throughout the summer youd av said i was ruining my sport for the winter.some people just lie in wait to trash other peoples posts....
  7. sorry stubby , thanks for that ,gorra let some go for next season.
  8. hi everyone, just wondered if anybodies used drop traps for rabbits. the farmer on my permission wants me to control em through the spring and summer, whilst it goes against the grain ,rabbiting in summer it,s the time that the arable farmers need it most.using traps also gives me the option of releasing the small ones. any advise or helpful tips on this would be muchly apprieciated.. cheers
  9. So in your opinion your ferrets are in better condition in winter when fed on fresh meat, than in the summer when you feed them dry food? and several replies comment that the ferrets eat dry food non stop could that not surely be down to them not getting sufficeint goodness out of the dry food and having to gorge on it? Y.I.S Leeview when i say better condition,i mean slimmer , more athletic and generally less lethargic, as for gauging, they can only eat as much as we put in the bowl, as i said before i think the weight gain is a lot to do with the amount of water they take in. atb
  10. I FEED DRY FOOD IN SUMMER TO CUT DOWN ON THE SMELL, I ALWAYS FEED FRESH MEAT IN THE WINTER MONTHS TO KEEP EM IN TIP TOP CONDITION...I THINK THE REASON THE WEIGHT BALOONS IS THE AMOUNT OF WATER THEY GET THROUGH..
  11. given a choice, i wouldn,t ferret in summer but what ya got to realize is whats sport for us is a pest for the landowners, theres times when you have to because if you don,t the landowner will find someone that will...
  12. when your mk1 makes a feedback noise after a certain depth, apparently its a part called the persimiter,,its the bit that ya wheel screws onto. apparently when you turn the wheel some brushes run around a graphite track and over the years bits of the graphite wear away,so when the brushes go over a worn part it makes a shorting noise......but youve guest it deben say they dont make persimiters for the mk1 anymore
  13. in the end, even the ar lass agreed they needed controling , when asked how she dint know..THEN BRAINWAVE ,introduce more foxes,,i could hear the sheep farmers of the uk saying "bollox why dint we think of that". its amazing how these people turn up for a debate but don,t have any answers or have any facts of what there protesting about.
  14. hiya, went out ferreting last sunday ,got to the first set and netted up,about2 minutes later one of the nets pursed and was amazed to see two bunnies in it.obviously seen one bolt out the same hole just when caught the first one,but these two came out side by side hitting the net at the same time..as this happened to anybody else...cheers...
  15. hi mate,it looks like the carbon tracks worn away, sames happened to mine, the part you want is called a persimeter. i can,t get one anywhere, an electronics buff that i know is currently trying to get me one, he recons that theyd only be a fiver and he could fix it easy.al keep ya posted.(parden the pun)
