Oh the floor aint wire but the sides are that was the problem if they were to crawl out the sides. I guess I could but the wire is the harder part to get hold of. A roll of it from my work is £25!!!! Also what thickness of wood would be best if I was to build one. Cheers Jordan

Really late reply lol but i have a 'sprollie' (if you like) or a collie/springer he's two years old and is a great dog overall. He was a rescue at 5 months and he does absolutly everything! He's an outstanding guard dog that stops anyone who would try to enter the house/garden or my own personal space. He has a great nose and can track and find anything. He can catch rabbits on the lamp with some work but gets his bunny on a good day also doesnt hesitate on fox . And im in the process of teaching him to mark when out with ferrets. Also retrieves well and quickly. Brilliant dog well worth i

Ah but one hutch is a wee(ish) one and one is a big 2 floor thing but only has solid sides on the top floor as the bottom is just wire (apart from the back) There is one jill in there (mentioned before) who I can tell you now that she wont tolerate other kits. Plus my hobs would ravage the rest if given the chance to. Also they are all in the shed so distance would be difficult. Jordan

They can both hear alright lol. Christ I'll need to splash the cash to get a few more hutches Does anyone know any cheap (but good) websites that sell hutches etc. just to save me buying from pets at home. Turns out Im getting a new hob as well now (last seasons rescue)...god its going to be a long year lol Cheers Jordan

Yeah I work them around the Portlethen and Newtonhill areas. A good bit of common land on newtonhill packed with them but not alot of holes to get to easier to get a dog in to flush them to another dog (small one flush collie catch). I net mainly but I usually take the mutt along too he aint as fast as a lurcher but he can still catch them and has a great nose. The problem with the food is that one hob is a greedy fat b*****d and the other doesnt get any and if i put in extra the fat one gets it all. Where'd you go ferreting I thought you were in England? Cheers Jordan

i seperated the two hobs as they werent getting enough food so I put them in with jills. They dont have false lighting at all they are kept in a shed with a window Jordan

The hob only mated two both were accidental I have no intention on breeding all four as im looking into getting one of my hobs snipped. As sue said 40 odd kits christ 6 is enough of a nightmare never mind that many... Jordan

Well I have 4 jills in a 2 tier hutch and Im very sure that the biggest one will not tolerate any shite like kits in her house lol. Also she was mated at start of december and the swelling went down near a month ago (forgot to add lol) Jordan
-
Well recently the majority of my jills (3/4) have come and to season and the first one ,that was ravaged by my hob, her swelling has gone. I was wondering how you would tell if she had kits? I read that her teets stiffen and lactate etc. but had none of that so im a little confused The same should happen to my other jill soon as she was got when they were playing in the garden One last thing i take it that I definantly give her her own hutch and a wee nest box? If so how big should the nest box be as i'll just knock it together? Any ideas? Cheers Jordan

Good amount of views on the subject lol. Well I personally only take rabbits and wouldnt mind the odd hare if I had a dog that could catch them and to work with my collie while ferreting and lamping. By the sounds of it I would be best with one from working lines, right? Does anyone know of any good breeders of working lines on Scotland? The ones I was looking at were show by the looks of it Froal Whippets they were called.... Cheers folks Jordan

I did think that a cross would benfit better in a way and Im alot more used to crossbreeds anyway. The problem I have with getting something like a beddy cross is that I cant find anyone in my area of travel etc that breeds them but I found a KC whippet breeder but that probably wouldnt be as strong a worker Cheers Jordan

Im reallyjust interested in what all you guys n gals run pure whippets on? Im looking into getting one (pure bred) and im interested to see what I could possibly put it on. Would like to see some pics if possible Cheers Jordan

Make sure you have ferrets for a start! A good knife (or a few knives) Spade is necessary so you dont have to dig with your hands not that I forgot lol Locator and collars make sure theyre on nice and snug so you dont get excited thinking you've got a rabbit then the ferret pops up with no collar lol Make sure thay get a good drink it can be quite dry down there Always have a back up as well as purse nets eg. long net, dog, gun etc. Dispatch your quarry humanely Finally have fun! Iv been looking for a while to find a good lamp kit (for rabbits mainly but wouldnt mind that lil extra ) Im stuck between two makes now either lightforce (most likely striker 170) or a Cluson (blazerlite probably) which would you recommend? Also what is the easiest to cart about, a shoulder strap battery pack or a belt pack? (Btw I have about say £150-170 budget for the whole lot) Cheers Jordan

Nice one mate. All taken by the dogs? or did you net too? Atb Jordan

Yep havent even taken the label off and iv used it twice Atb Jordan

Very true. Its was funny when the the AR wifey ran off crying when they started shooting. So much for 'voicing the rights for the animals'! Plain ignorance. You have to love the Ugandan woman she has her head screwed on at least cause shes right in the end its food and thats what its there for! Jordan

This is from a whiley ago but just got the pics up on the computer now. Had a lovely 3 n a half foot dig! It was a nice night and the dog got a few runs on the lamp (one being a hare which he had no chance catching lol but was fun) After digging the fert and bunny out she had chewed a bit of its back leg off! Fair mess the thing was in but necked him quick. Unfortunately for my dog he made the mistake of having a quick snap at the ferret as she walked past which ended in a lovely set of teeth in the leg for harry! lol That'll teach 'em! Here's some piccies,

Last nights show was pretty funny. The dumbass blond bitch crying over her shot pumpkin (or necked rabbit whatever lol) She even said she was enemic and 'dont relly like vegetables' WTF!!! Grouse tonight should be fun Atb Jordan

Thats me got 3 out of 4 jills in season now! Two have been mated though so im likely to get some early kits this year Atb Jordan

I have the same problem with 5out of 6 of mine but i just keep it easy for them and let them get used to the set for a while and offer them a skin to rag onto (rabbit skin not mine!) and then give them some tasty bits when they come right out. I have to keep reminding myself that they are still really young and to just give them time and it will pay off in the end Atb Jordan

Well one of my hobs from this year has managed to line 2 of my jiills (again this years) completely by accident as they came into season early but he seemed to know what he was doing and his testes are visible. Their balls usually go in during the winter (seemingly lol) Atb Jordan

Christ the size of him!! I thought my 2 were big for their age. Richie that one of yours is feckin huge bet he could take bloody deer never mind rabbits! lol Atb Jordan
