  1. I've had an open ticket for 25years but never paid it much attention. The DSC is a way to controle stalkers and there ability (don't know if its good or bad). I have had info about the issue of FAC's, if its target shooting you must be a member of a home office aproved club , ect , ect, ect........... but the latest for owing a 22 or center fire for stalking or vermin control you have to show not just a use but also competence to use such firarm. Before you can use an MOD range you must have the relivant trainning certificate which you can obtain through the NRA. I know that this is money
  2. Doing my DSC1 next Wednesday and Thursday some amount of question you have to know  not sure if I'll get it .... Was even concerned about the shooting test so went and bought a tri-pod for the 70m and 40m stuff hopefully it will help . I realy hope I pass this ..........
  3. The best way of testing loads SS is to invest in a set of bags (front and rear) so as to get as much consistency as possible with point of aim, or the next best thing is your bipod and a old sock filled with rice for the rifle butt. Works a treat. This way you can squeeze the sock to raise and lower the butt as required. If you use bags or a sock you get rid of all doubts about your loads not being accurate. Looks like you had a few good groups by the pictures. Good luck
  4. Can't go wrong with a T3 in 223.....this is mine with a Bushy 6-24x50 4200. Graet rifles
  5. The link to Scotland on Sunday.... http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/lates...-gun.4981990.jp.
  6. Looks like we'er about to loose air guns? Scotland on Sunday has a article about them. Looks like air wepons are going down the same road as SLR's and Pistols .
  7. Like myself I want my scopes as low as possible. I use a T3 varmint and a Sako Varmint both with Bushnell 4200's with 50mm objectives and have to say the only way I got the scopes as low as possible was using Optilock Rings and bases for both. They are expensive but quality come at a price Measuse the outside diameter of the objective on your scope and get the set from the optilock chart. I find that I can go a size down using optilocks....eg, if I need low rings for my scope acording to the optilock chart you will get away with extra low rings. This way you get your scope as low as possibl
  8. I don't quite understand this one, Sound Moderators are sweeping the country and demand is strong...many rifle barrels need shortening or the balance screws up, hence why Tikka, etc are now all arriving in the country with SHORTER Threaded barrels, far from devaluing the gun I would suggest it will enhance the price! IMHO. Thread protectors are easy to come by, many dealers will simply give you one...BUT, so what anyway if you have a moderator fitted!! To answer this.... I have know doubt that " Sound Moderators are sweeping the country " but I would not buy a standard ri
  9. I had a 10/22 a few years back.....nice gun but very sensitive to ammo types. If I put the mod on and used sub's it would not feed. So it was sold. It shot fine using full power 22lr, but no use with a mod. I have mates who have no problems with their's but they don't use a mod (target use only). I use a CZ452 silhouette with SAK mod . Other gun I looked at was a SAKO Quad but a tad pricey . Hope this helps
  10. Nice looking bit of kit. I take it your target shooting with it? Depending on your barrel twist, this will dictate what bullets you shoot. I use a T3 Varmint with a 1:8 twist. I use mine for game and target.I find that a heavy bullet works best (75g A-max) . A rule of thumb is the 1:12 twist light bullets 40 to 55grain and 1:8,1:7 twist for heavy bullets 6o grain upwards. If it's a tight twist barrel you should try some Prive Partizn 223 match.... very cheep and great for long range. All the best
  11. This is my 2P's worth............. Cutting the barrel on your T3 would devalue the rifle by a huge amount. If you were to trade the gun buyers would think "why's the barrel been cut". One option would be trade the gun in for a short barrel Tikka (20") thay are all factory threaded. With prices the way thay are you'll get top trade in for your gun. I personaly would not buy any gun that the barrel has been choped. There is alot of talk about the standard of some barrel threading , if its been done at the factory you know it's correct plus you get the thread protector. I use a T3 24"varm
  12. 22LR subsonic is use with a suppressor mainly. You do get 22 short but I think that its for pistol only. As for bullet weight and powder weight you dont have the same choice with 22lr as with other calibers and you cant home load them. I use Winchester Subs 40grain bullet, they work well in my Brno up to about 90m mark. Sorry mate if I offended
  13. Any subsonic stuff "but dont want to put one through the barn" . A subsonic round would go through a 1" or more of wood no problem. Alway think safety before you take the shot I'm nor sure what you want to know????
  14. Sorry Mate but never heard of a Burris Elite......... Bushnell Elite yes. What you need to do to any second hand scope is to zero the dials. This is getting the reticile as centered as possible , turn the elivation dial to fully down and then fully up (counting the number of turns) then put the knob in the half way position do the same for left to right. Just make sure your mount and rings are set and tight. This will get the reticile as near central as possible, then you sight in the normal way.
  15. I have a new Bushnell 6500 50mm Objective sunshade. Its 5" long . I got the wrong one sent to me. £25 + P+P.
  16. Super looking rifle Enjoy your new gun
  17. Must say I got a set (front and rear) of Caldwel bags from Sportsman gun center £17 for the two, and no problems . But I have mine filled with rice.
  18. No it's not Barry, it's Bridge of Cally's club range. And sorry the number 4's not mine so dont realy know much about the gun.
  19. The old one is a No4, Here's the gun and the old guy that shoots it
  20. By the way lads , they don't all belong to be. I only have the Tikka and the Sako. Its an ex pistol range and its only 100m. Most of my shooting mates are target shooters ( ) as you can see from the FTR guns. One is a Barnard 308 and the other is a Savage 308 both rifles have trueflyte barrels. You can hit a fle's bolocks with these things at a 100. They are normaly used at 1000m.
  21. Was out at the range today throught I would post some pictures. Todays line up? Sako 308 varminter Sako 308 and Tikka 223 Me with Sako Sharp end of a 308 F/TR rifle. One happy FTR shooter. Barnard 308 Savage 308 Hope you like the pictures..
  22. Good choice , a wee report on it would be nice I'm looking at one of these for my 308.
  23. I like mildot scopes, what they give you is a hold over point on the reticle using the mildots. You can also work out the range of a target if you know it's size (estimate). I would recommend Falcon Optics http://www.falconoptics.com/index.php Menace 4.5-16x56 is going to be my next scope . Target turrets are I find a great help, as once you have your scope zeroed at 100m or yds you put the adjustment knobs to zero and its 1 click for 25m or yds , left to right is the same. I use a Bushy 4200 Elite 6-25x50 mildot and find it great. The only draw back about target turrets is mybe when hu
  24. I use bags for sighting my rifles, (rice filled) Caldwells. I also use a Golf club head cover filed with black bags, very light to carry about. Another great sighting aid is a sock filled with rice for the butt. It gives you the ability to squeeze the sock to raise and lower the rifle butt. I use both methods with bi-pod or front bag. I find it's the best way to sight a gun.
  25. I have about 200 Winchster 223 55g SP varmint which I dont realy use. I would sell £45 100 if your arround the Dundee area????
