  1. It shows perfectly that most dogs will come good with a decent owner. Well done mate, I look forward to seeing her over the coming months, keep the pictures coming. Tom.

He's chewing because he's bored. Give him lots of toys and dog chews if you have to leave him, and even better take him long walks 2 or 3 times a day and tire him out. The good news is most pups chew things but grow out of it as they age. Cheers, Tom.
  3. Here's the pup I had off you mate. He's growing like a weed and I couldn't be more pleased with him. Cheers, Tom.
  4. There is a cheaper A8 version with the same lumens rating and the same lens add on, is there a difference in the beam ? Cheers, Tom.
  5. Hi mate, just to let you know my pup is comuing on really well, he recalls and sits on command already at 8 weeks, I couldn't have asked for more. Don't know if you remember but you commented on him having pretty small paws, well in the last 2 weeks they've grown so he now looks like he's wearing snowshoes!lol. He had his first jab yesterday, and I can't wait to take him out. I think he will need to be bought on slowly as his prey drive is massive, he's already had rollockings for chasing the chickens and cats every chance he gets. I'll keep in touch and let you now how he gets on over th
  6. Picked up my pup yesterday, he's a cracker. Thanks loves2hunt and for the cuppa mate, Atb Tom.
  7. I've been to pick one of these pups today and can vouch that they are a cracking litter and Loves to hunt is a top guy. Thanks again mate, Tom.
  8. Just wondering if those of you on here who have 2 dogs use the same commands for each dog or different ones for each? I can see where it wouldn't matter so much when lamping, but I'm thinking of when I get another dog and am bushing or ferreting with 2 and want one to stay and one do something else. Sorry if it's an obvious thing, but I'm a complete novice and am trying to sort things out in my head before I get another pup so I don't wreck him before he's started. Thanks, Tom.
  9. Thanks a lot for the offer, but as i said earlier I want to give it my best shot at training my lakie to a decent standard, I'd just knacker both pups if I had one now. Another 2-3 months and I reckon I'll be ready, then i'll ask again. By the way, I didn't mean to come across as a sponger, I'll gladly pay the going rate for a good pup. In the meantime I'll just carry on lurking and reading as much as I can. Thanks to eveeryone again, Tom
  10. Good post mate, take your time no rush, decide what you want it for, then decide on the type, just rabbits your small cross will do, working whippet, bed/whip, collie/whip, I have an ACDx grey/whip only 21 inch, if you want bigger type for other game ?, then go for a larger, grey/bed, collie/grey or a mix of crosses, do you want to train it to good standard or just somethng to slip and catch ?, pick something with a bit of brain to train. , Never to old to work a dog or give it a good home, my pup is 12 month, Im pushing 57, had them for years, go for it let us know how you get on, good lu
  11. Cheers all, I had visions of travelling 50 miles for a pup only to be told to piss off. I've been lurking on here for a couple of months, not able to say anything because at the mo I don't even have a pup, but the info I've gathered will come in handy. I must admit it's killing me waiting, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't train 2 young dogs at once, so I'll stick with the plan to get the terrier properly obedient before I start again with a new pup.
  12. I'm wondering if you guys woud sell me a dog if I told you the truth about my knowledge and abilities? I own a 6 month old lakiex which I am in the process of training to do bushing when I am out walking. He's coming along great, and I would like to add a small lurcher to give myself the chance of actually catching something rather than see it dissapear into the distance. I've made up my mind to leave it until the summer so that terrier is properly traained before getting the new pup. I know very little about lurchers, though I did go lamping with a few guys a few years ago for a while, so
  13. Thanks for the answer. The terrier is 5, nearly 6 months old, I meant I've had him 3. I don't push him other than geeing him on if he goes into the thicker brush, but it's a case of the blind leading the blind at the mo, hopefully he'll pick it up despite me being useless. As for the lurcher, the ground I am walking is made up of big gorse and bramble patches with small areas of grass in between, so I was going on what people on here seem to suggest. Standing start speed will be more important than top end I would imagine, and it will need a thick coat. Would a greyhound cross be as nimble
  14. Hi all, I'd appreciate some advice from you about my next steps into the sport, seeing as I have no experience at all. My son bought a cross lakeland pup 3 months ago, and lost interest almost immediately which is why I am the one now walking him each day and training him as best I can. He's 5 months old, quick to learn, and has been a pleasure to own the last few months, 99% on his recall, walking to heel for a minute or so till he gets bored, the same with sit and stay.( I presume he will get better as he gets older?) I have no permission to hunt and have been walking him on a big area o
