  1. Evening all. Took a nice early morning walk this morning with the pup and terrier, when the terrier pushed a rabbit out of the bushes, the pup got a good run on it and chased it down towards the river. To my amazement the rabbit didnt stop and took a huge leap into the river. We stood at the bank and watched it swim to the otherside. unfortunately the bank was too steep and the rabit couldnt get out so decided to swim back about half way across the river when it saw us waiting and stopped. It just floated in the middle of the river for a couple of minutes until we hid behind a tree. Once it t

  3. Anyone on here reccomend any good cheap dog vets. After my last vet charging £400 for stitching up a skin tear, I've been advised to find a decent vet that won't rip me off?? Cheers
  4. Hes on about dogs that have jacked (Come off of their prey. Personally I think it depends what the pups are being bred for. For example if the dogs no good on fox/hare but a great rabbit dog and is being bred back to a good rabbiting bitch for rabbiting work, then I think thats acceptable as long as the purchaser of the pups knows. However if the pups are wanted for hare/fox and one of the parents has jacked/cocked then its just like breeding pets and the purchasers would then have to take a chance. If the pups were from a litter where both parents were allround workers then the perso

  8. I loved getting up early every saturday morning to go out to the woods with my mate and his terriers and lurcher. Got my lurcher working well with the pack and was great fun. We'd stop hunting about 7:30/8:00 for a camp fire and we'd cook some sausages and make a cuppa, before heading off again. Great Fun that was.

  12. What you think of this? To glue a wound shut, it's not necessary that it be dry. In fact, SuperGlue works a bit better if the edges are wet, as the goal here is to weld living tissue together so that it will mend. For that, you want clean fresh (i.e. wet and bleeding) edges. To begin with, flush all dirt and grime out of the wound with fresh water in a squeeze bottle. Once the wound is clean and moist, pull or push the wound closed while you "spot weld" the edges together with SuperGlue. You do not want to put the glue inside the wound -- you are closing up the top, not putting in d
  13. He is insured. I've just been looking up using glue and have read people use normal superglue. Does anyone use it. I read on a working terrier site that someone in the states used 50cent work of super glue on a tear that the vet was wanting to charge $1000 to stitch up.
  14. Basically A few weeks ago my dog tore all the skin down the back on his leg during a ferreting accident. His first walk offlead sinse the accident and he rips his stomach open on some barbed wire. After £350 vet bill the first time round my mum isn't happy. Soo just wondered what you guys did when your dogs skin tears? Do you staple it, Stitch it or take the dog to the vets? What do you think is the best way to heal it? Cheers in advance, Will

Took him for his first off lead walk since he injured himself and he cut open his chest on some barbed wire. Be a good few weeks before it heals. And I've only got a 5 month old pup as a reserve but she's too young at the moment.
