  1. I was in same position as you a few months ago, good advice from above Lanier or Baikal are good goods for the price. I found a lovely Lincoln o/u in my local gunshop, they're we're others but that one just felt right. Good luck with your search mate
  2. Yes mag is removable, asking price is bottom price mate, trust me, cheap rifle for the money.
  3. Alright mate, yeh thank god we built that big wall to keep you keighleyites out!!! Hope your well.
  4. Airgun Guy was 1st to pm so he will have 1st refusal, only fair. The gun is priced to sell quick as I have certificate coming in next week or so, if you require posting it will be at your expense. The slight pitting mentioned is not really worth speaking about but in interest of fairness and accurate description I thought it best to include, it would however definately improve the rifle if it was re blued in future. I can send close up pics if required. I forgot to mention rifle comes with sling, pellets and filling adaptor.
  5. Hi, For sale is my custom Air Arms S200 177 cal,10 shot rifle, the rifle has a HW100 air cylinder fitted to it giving over 130 full power shots in one fill. it will come with silencer, bipod, Richter 3-9 x50 scope and fleece lined bag.The rifle has a little pitting on barrel and needs a new swivel on bipod, it was serviced last summer and I think I still have the receipt from the gunsmiths showing the work done. This rifle previously belonged to Festa off here and has been superb in the field, I am selling as I have joined a DIY shoot and need to fund a shotgun. Would also swap for decen
  6. Lissett or Edward martin dvds will sort your springer out, Drakeshead gundog training for the lab mate
  7. Yeh mate I remember you doing that for me, I have had loads of offers already for next season but all in S.Yorks area, some really good formal shoots as well as small DIY ones. I'm just trying to cut down on the mileage as , anywhere this side of W.Yorks would be good.
  8. Cheers Mick, money is in the post!! Lol. Just make sure it's not a fiver light this time. I can have a word my end if you like Cheers mate, anywhere in West Yorkshire will be fine.
  9. Hi, Does anyone have any info on shoots local to Halifax area, i have two well trained spaniels and i'm looking for some beating next season, anything from formal to small informal shoots. Payment although welcome is not as important as the enjoyment. I am currently travelling to to S.Yorks twice a week for my beating and just looking for something closer. Thanks Ian

  11. Hi mate, Nice going on the rabbits, looks like you've plenty to go at.
  12. Training starts the moment you get the dog, by that i mean putting basic manners into it. Get the dog to know his name, learn it to sit, prob most importantly spend time with it and get a strong bond. Ive found training comes easier if there's a bond. I would also advise banging his food dish before feeding it, this way it will associate loud noises with something nice. This will help when you introduce it to shot later in training.
  13. Darren is an excellent trainer, the classes are friendly and fun for both dog and owner. The one off spaniel days he does are great for bringing them on. If your new to gundogs then this would be the ideal place to start.
  14. As above mate, just make sure he cant get behind you and plenty of praise when he comes to you.
  15. Each to their own but personally i would lift the dog over barbed wire fences. As for it being a hazard of the job, for meits one thats easilly avoidable and saves you a hell of a lot in vets bills!!!
  16. I have a 20month old Sprocker, just had a great 1st season with him, lives to retrieve anything and smashes the heaviest of cover. Just lost a little bit of steadiness towards the end but thats to be expected, a few sessions in the rabbit pen and a bit if doggin before next season wil sort tha no probs. I would highly recomend them, as long as your not bothered anout trialling. Will put a pic up tonite.
  17. Hi mate, You might need to go back to the beggining with this one, by that i mean almost treating him as you would a pup before it hears gunshot for the first time. For me i normally start by clapping loudly outside the kennel just before feeding, give plenty of praise and the dog will then associate loud noises with something pleasant ie food. keep this up until he's completely comfortable with the noise and actually comes to the gate tail wagging. Then get your hands on a starter pistol and get someone to let it off a fair distance away while you again praise and feed him, then when he's
  18. Try David Lissett or Edward Martin both do cracking dvd's. The Lissett one is more up to date.
  19. HI, I am currently beating on a few shoots around the South Yorks area, this is non paid and is taking its toll on my diesel bill!! Are there any shoots around the Halifax/West Yorks area who are short of beater? I have a 17 month old sprocker, who is coming along fantastic, he works all cover and retrieves brilliantly. I also have a 6 month old Cocker who also doing very well with his training. I am reliable and often available at short notice. Thanks Ian
  20. I always use partridges for my pups early retrives, similar size to pigeons bit the feathers dont come out as easy, i ve even known folk wrap pigeons in tights for their pups. I would just make sure your pup is rerieving dummies properly first, and if you have a cocker be careful as once introduced to cold game they can loose all interest in dummies.
  21. Have to agree with the above, 15ft is about the max distance. I've had the same expirience on two shoots this season, peoples dogs 60-70yds in front and sending the birds up before anyone else's got there, pissed me right off, asked the owners to bring em back in so everybodies dog had a chance to flush but you'd have thought i'd shit in there shoes they way the just looked at me, i got told you dont stop a worker!!!. At lunch i had a word with the keeper about what was happening, he soon had a word with em and they didnt show for the next drive. No one wants to winge, we are all there to
