I don't think it's anythink magic and I only shoot out to 110m. And yes I do miss a few out there but not many. I use the calulator from the Big Game Info website and found it matched my rifle very well. I also find that I don't need to read the wind as where I shoot has plenty of trees around to reduce the wind enough not to bother with it. Here's a short video of when I was out with a friend shooting rabbits. http://www.biggameinfo.com/index.aspx?&...%2fbalcalc.ascx

Hi Clive, nice stock. What wind speed is the drop chart for, 4mph? Are you using a moderator? What length is the barrel? Sorry for the barrage but Eleys through my CZ don't perform nearly as well as they do through yours, which is a bit annoying. Cheers, Steve. Wind speed is 10mph and the CZ 22lr Style barrel length is 22.5". I use a SAK moderator, cheap and does the job well. I get 1/2" @50m all the time which opens up to 1-1/2" @110m. I find using the 13-27 harris bi-pod @13" is just right when out in the fields laying prone and is just the right height for me.

My cz Style, with a custom stock, is zeroed at 50m /55y and I am comfortable taking and hitting head shots on rabbits out to 110m. I use a range finder and drop chart to dial in the range with the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 with tactical turrets seen here on my rifle. Ammo is Eley or Lapua subs and here's the drop chart

I'd like to have this caller as I have tried others without success. I have a WAM, FoxcallUK, Wigen, back of my hand. I'm not getting the foxes to come well at all. Clive

I have 2 Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-24x50 tactical scopes. One is on my 223 the other for a 308. You won't go wrong with the Bushnell range of scopes IMO. The 3200 Elite 4-16x40 you are looking at will be good on your Tikka and will last you as long as the gun does.

I will be getting my second-hand Sako 75 in .308 soon and what to know what ammo I should be thinking of using for deer stalking. Many people have said to use soft point only and avoid meat damage while others are true to the balistic tip rounds. I am leaning towards the Federal Fusion 150gr SP but I'm open to your thoughts. I have also posted this thread on other forums to see what the answer may be.

I zero my CZ Varmint 1" high @100m and this will give me zero @200m and 1" low @225m so I'm on a 2" target all the way to 225m. Using Federal V-Shok 40gr. Here is the target I use @100m. Aim at the red bull but rounds should hit the upper bull.

The 527 is a centre fire rifle not a rimfire Easy enough to adjust the 527 triggers to cutomise them to your own liking. Google 527 trigger and you'll get plenty of instructions on how it's done if you don't have the manual to hand.

I'm using Eley standard and Lapua Super subs in my CZ 22lr and find them very good. Here's a drop chart I made up for the subs I use and works out to 140y 22lr_Range.doc

This is my set up a CZ Varmint .223 with the kevlar stock. On top is a Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-24x50 Tactical with the target turrets. Just got an ASE Ultra Northstar mod for it, now I just have to get the barrel threaded. Shoots very well, best yet is sub 30mm @300m using Federal V Shok 40gr

308 and fox is OTT. 223 and 308 have the same trajectory only different bullit weights. if yuor going deer shooting then geta deer calibre, if fox shooting then use a good fox calibre. end of story.

I was reading that anything with a velocty above 2800 FPS will do. So that rules out the 308.

I've had a few scopes up till now and have settled on the Bushnell range. I like what they do because they do it well. On my .22lr I now have a 3200 elite 10x40 tactical with the target turrets and mildot reticle. I have 2 4200 elite 6-24x50 tactical with the target turrets and mildot reticle. This I have sitting on my CZ .223 and the other one will be sitting on my Sako 75 in .308. With this scope I can see the 223 bullit holes @300m. The turrets will always return to the zero after turning up or down for the diffferent dialed in ranges i.e. 100m, 200m, 300m. They do what it says

And what was your guesstimated wind speed for a 5.5" drift @250y Mr L. and what were you zeroed at. I have my 223 zeroed @200m and I see a drop of 9" (10 clicks of up) to get me to 300m. Using 40gr V-Shoks.

The long shots were ranged at 120y and most of the rest @70-90y. The clip of the rabbit falling backwards was at 90y We missed some at 165y that were only just dropping short and because we were so far away the rabbit couldn't hear the report of the shot and sat there for us.

They are all head or heart/lung shots so all the time at the range was well spent I think.

Kilkenny rabbits big and bold. Dwighet and myself went out for a few bunny's at the weekend. Great day to hunt it was good and sunny. Got to the farm at 12.30 and left around 6pm. This is the second time we have been to this farm and as you can see there's plenty of hunting to get done.

I had a Nikko nighteater 8-32x60 and thought it was the Bee's knees until I looked through a Bushnell banner 3-12x40. But I wanted a mildot reticle so now I have a Bushnell 3200 elite tactical 10x50 with target turrets. Very good and with mildot reticle. All you will need.

Crown Trouble on my fox bowler
clivej replied to firepower's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Your not getting many replies to your question I would suggest that you get a NON Scratch green pad and some 3 in 1 oil and carefully with your thumb at the back of the green pad remove the rust using a circular motion. Like twist the barrel round with one hand and with the pad, oil and thumb on the crown. -
After watching the weather forecast on Sky News for today and waiting for the rain that never came, what a beautiful morning, by Noon cabin fever had long started to set in. By 12.30 with the sweats starting and no sign of the rain it was time to get out. So a quick call to my good shooting buddy Dwighet it was arranged to meet at my new permission for a bunny bashing session. I only recently got this new shoot and it’s going great, every ditch has so many burrows that I don’t know what’s holding up the trees. So at 1.30 we met up at the farm. Dwighet has a lovely new (to him) CZ

Change in vertical gives me winage change as well.
clivej replied to clivej's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Thanks for the info, I'll try it again @100m on a still day. But after I had zeroed it in I was getting sub 1" groups @200m one was a tad under 3/4" and other 7/8" rest were around the 1 1/2" mark not bad from a CZ 223 varmint gun. -
