  2. my female pushes her luck alot of the times she trys to take foxes and any dog smaller than a spaniel that she not used to ,and we all know 1 wrong move with a fox and shes gone tryed all ways to make her stop uped her weight only hunting off the fist still no joy just try and avoid them now . 100% ferret safe thou can let them run around her and she not botherd
  3. got offerd a job clearing some pigions and gulls from a builders yard
  4. she spoted it off the fist and let her go and she got to within 30ft before it spotted her she was at full speed then
  5. tryed running first then realised she was closing in to fast then took off might have been shorter than 50yrds but caught in flight and she was at top speed with wind helping her

  7. she had a bit of help from the wind as it was behind her .aslo she fit as was only down for moult for 3 months brought back in june hunting
  8. rained off work today so was bored in the house thinking what i could do the rain eased so went out with the bird , had a few chases but no luck with the rabbits , so decided to call it a day rain and wind picked up about 200 yrds away from the car she spotted somthing in the feild so let her go up poped a cock pheasants and the chase began she nailed him after about 50 yrds of flight

  10. just crows magpie rabbit a bit of all sorts really [bANNED TEXT] the best bird for that kind of job i d get a male harris mate they can take feather and fur and a good bird to learn with to. quicker on the wing than a female harris , and if you do make mistakes the harris is more forgiving

  14. the bird is fine i know what am doing i have had the bird 2 years it is a female it flys at 1.9 has it been dna sexed , sounds like a large male to me but could be wrong how did you drop her weight for the last to seasons > a quick way i find is to get her doing jump ups builds there muscle up and helps loss some weight

  16. theres loads of people out there willing to help mate ,just do some home work on what u want to do with the bird , just fly or hunt and what you want to hunt birds , fur or both , then have you got enought quarry for them and your half way there ,Most people will alow you to go along with them hunting even if you do the donkey work for them you still learn and see what the birds can do, if you go on the iff website there are alot more falconers on there closer to u and worth putting a post on there
  17. i personally havent seen a ocelot but my boss and some wildlife lovers by me have many times they get up at 7.ooam and walk around the mountains and forestrys by me till dark every day rain or shine
  18. i belive there around here , we got wild osolotes here a larger kind of domestic cat , but also farmers , dog walkers and every day people said they have seen them around here you find half dead sheep ripped open aslo deer
  19. if you dont know YOU SHOULDNT REPY TIMEWASTER to cut its weight mate reduce its food slowly you might get a scremer and a very stresed bird do it to quickly also how old is it mate ???/
  20. is this your first bird , have you got a mentor or some one to help you ,dont want to have a go but if you dont now how to drop there weight how do you now how to care ,train and look after it
  21. i flew my female harris throught the moult had no problems she enjoyed better than staying in the mews or tyed to the bow perch on the lawn only got a inch left on 1 tail feather , aslo i give her a full crop every week on a sunday and monday so over weight till wednesday and only at hunting weight for 3 days max , as for cover with the trees just gives squirrels and birds more places to hide and get to cover . and there fit all year long giving you a much better hunter and a better bird

    starter bird

    id go for a harris hawk or red tail but as you say u mainly want to hunt birds i go for a male harris hawk qicker on the wing and can take rabbits to have a look on the ibr or bird trader hope this helps
