  1. I've laminated a few pictures of my bosses head. Quite enjoy shooting those.
  2. There are a lot of numb nuts on the bbs site who dont know what they are talking about............probably never shot so much as a tree rat in their life. Maybe dont even own a fooking air rifle. Much better off here IMHO.
  3. The Weihrauch all day long mate...........if I had the money for two PCP's I would get two HW100's, a standard length 177 and a carbine 22. It's better bulit, quieter, smoother and a dream to use on rabbits in the field - kills them for fun. I had an S410 and thought it was the muts nuts........until i tried my uncle's Weihrauch and realised it was superior to my rifle in almost every way i could think of. I decided right then and there that I had to have one. Whatever you do though, get a divers bottle and hose to fill it...........none of this :download: hahaha
  4. Standard length for me.........and thumbhole stock. And 177. And weihrauch.
  5. Had it happen with an Air arms S410 in .22 (which I sold)...but to be fair it did account for more than its share of rabbits and squirrels in the three years that I had it.....but I can say in all honesty that the weihrauch Hw100 I have now (177) is far superior in build, accuracy and power. So far whatever I have hit has met it's maker then and there......Flopsy gets it in the head, flopsy is dead
  6. As above......in my experience it aint so much the conditions as the time of day, dawn and dusk (as with most wildlife) is the best time to spot them but of course if there are plenty of them where you shoot, you can get lucky any time of day if you're quiet. They definitely head for their burrows in wet weather.................but strangely I have had my best bags when there is a thunderstorm looming, warm and overcast but couldnt say whether that made the difference or was just coincidence.
  7. I prefer 177 also, but that doesnt mean a well zeroed 22 isnt just as accurate. Only at ranges in excess of, say, 30 yards will the 177 have any real advantage in my book.........but I still prefer 177 in sub 12ft/lb guns and 22 in FAC. I'll tell the rabbit in my freezer it can go home now because i only shot it with a 177 :)
  8. cheers lads much appreciated info
  9. I am interested in getting myself a .22 cal pcp, I love the weihrauch I have in .177 so considering another (carbine this time) in .22, but could be tempted into a falcon rifle.....I would like it in a carbine length.......what models are there out there and does anyone have one? Are they well built and powerful?? smooth?? Please advise, I dont want to spend good money and be disappointed. Cheers shenners
  10. gutting and skinning a rabbit Hope this helps.......this is how a professional game chef does it, good video this.
  11. Should give them away to family and friends you tight git
  12. You should be able to get a decent second hand walnut S410 with scope and charging equipment for that......those things will kill rabbits all day long, consider .177 though.....bit more accuracy at slightly longer ranges and dont let anyone tell you they dont kill as well as a .22 because they do......my .177 HW100 is clinical on rabbits.
  13. F5.6 at a little over 300 mm.........as you can tell there was some nice natural light to play with so f5.6 was enough to get the soft background I needed with a half decent shutter speed. Going to the Isle of man next month for a week to shoot (photographically lol) some of the sea birds and seals. I'll stick a few up when I get back. I'm going out for a couple of hours now to take out a few magpies, have a good weekend y'all. Shenners
  14. Didn't want to give this a taste of the weihrauch! Taken a few months ago and now been published on the website of the place where it was taken, a kind of holiday home for rabbits! Nikon D300 / Nikon -400mm ED VR lens.
  15. I use Logun penetrators in my HW100, claimed many a rabbit with these and would reccomend them. 9.5grain for a bit more of a whack, very accurate too and never find any dud ones. Not the cheapest but worth the extra in my view. H&N ftt very good in the HW100 too may be second best in another gun, it's trial and error for your individual rifle I'm afraid.
  16. I think it's probably designed to attract shooters rather than rabbits..................thats all I'm saying!
  17. .177 for me, choose a heavier pellet of around 10 grains for hunting...... Bisley magnum, Logun penetrator, crosman premier heavy or something similar. .22 are fine but better in FAC........If you have a 12ft/lb gun, .177 is the superior calibre for accuracy and greater range. In my humble opinion of course
  18. My opinion is that you should save a little longer and get a weihrauch HW97k or an AA TX200....better built, more accurate and more powerful, although I have shot a couple of cheaper BSA springers and there isnt much to grumble about....you get what you pay for though without a doubt. If I was pushed to choose....and couldnt afford an AA proSport................................................I'd pick the weihrauch HW97k. Shenners
  19. Does your friend have a pcp?? If so you could use his filling equipment for your your own gun in the short term before you have the budget to buy yourself a bottle/hose for your gun. A 3 litre, 300 bar diving bottle (I believe they call them pony bottles in the diving trade) is more than adequate and you can get it refilled at a diving shop/gun shop. Blackpool air rifles are doing good deals on these at the moment have a look here, £139 for 3 litre version....complete with hose and everything you need. As for the budget you have for a gun, you could pick up something like an Air Arms S400
  20. Well you're a lucky man to have that sort of sport available to you! I'm sure the rest of us would fall over each other to have a crack at those......nice pics BTW. I have some good rabbit sport available to me, near Bury in Greater manchester if anyone would like an evenings lamping next month?? Or a dawn raid................. I can take a guest on the farm as long as I let the owners know in advance. Shenners
  21. Well I'm glad that so many of you share my dislike of Magpies, I will keep at it and post pictures of my results.......... I have been out this morning for a couple of tins of .177 Bisley magnums and re-zeroed for this pellet. Watch them fall.
  22. I watched a pair of magpies tear a robin to pieces in my nan's garden. I was so appaled by what I saw that I have decided to try and thin out the magpie population in my area and get some songbirds back into my garden. Does anyone really like magpies? And why are we seeing so many of them these days?? This a call to arms! I aim to take 10 a week from now on. Shenners
  23. My 2p worth......... As has been said it depends on what you are comfortable with, both calibres will be effective on rabbits and crows if your gun is up to power, and you can make a clean headshot within your comfortable hunting range. (I'd say up to 35 yds, maybe a touch further with .177) Dont let anyone convince you that .177 is for paper targets, I have a Weihrauch HW100t in .177 and teamed with heavier grain pellets (I use Logun Penetrators) of around 10 grains it is without doubt the best combination of gun and pellet I have ever used on rabbits. Bisley Magnums, Crosman Pre
  24. I have never picked up a Theoben let alone shot one, so am not qualified to comment on the rapids but i do own a Weihrauch HW100T in .177 calibre (the new quick-fill type) and it is just beautiful. I chose this gun after deliberating over several rifles in the shops and reading countless reviews of several models found on the net......I dont regret my choice at all. It has the best multishot arangement of any pcp in my opinion, and being supplied with two 14 shot mags is a nice touch. The silencer is brilliant and with heavier grain pellets, (I use penetrators but Bisley mags are equa
