    to the point I suppose , but any chance you could elaborate !. Proffesional terrier men ??recreational diggers?? what? When taking advice on this from BASC I was warned that virtually no Scotish force would support a variation for pistol ,other than for Stalkers who could justify it or were employed as a stalker. Any info would be great , Thanks Most of the lads I know have pistols.Most professional terriermen use the Hunts gun.Know one or two who have .410 pistols others have .22 just a question of preference.Some forces are very tight giving them out ..

    the use of a shot gun while a terrier is to ground should be avoided , the gases produced into a confined space have killed terriers in the past if you have the relevant fac a pistol should be used in a safe manner , if you have no experience of this you should try and get some before embarking to use a pistol in this situation .When you have dug down you should be on the terriers nose .Just lift your dog and finish the job,thats why a pistol is better than a shotgun.If it doesnt bolt you need a fecking big hole to use a shotgun

Yeah, I really liked the Crippen dog, Neil told me the story of how a really "big name" used the dog to cover a bitch then denied the birth of any pups only to be heard telling someone the breeding of the pups a few months later and stating Crippen was the sire...lol Yep reckon I know who you mean..He also had a decent dog called Red
