  3. a treadmill is a great bit of equiptment if used in cojunction with road walking,it tones up the muscles and builds stamina when used along side other forms of workouts.we used to run the heavy dogs on them years ago, gave them untold stamina.if not abused a great bit of kit.
  4. Mal its very like lamb, its bleedin delicious. rought coated you can chalk that one down.
  5. well heres the story,I just ate a portion of back haunch of ''smelly meat''.With trepedation I (well the wife to be truthfull)put a back leg into a roasting bag and shoved it in the oven.It came out rather dark but hell it was absolutely georgous.I was told it was not the nicest but they were WRONG.Try it its very nice.I gave a leg to my mate and he thought the same.So from now on goat is definitely on the menu in this house........but only for me as my fussy little shits wont even consider trying some.
  6. I mhave prepared 2 rear leg joints of ''smelly'' meat and 2 briskets of said same.If I dissapear from this forum you can take it the goats got me in the end, lol.Mal shes turned out a very bidable bitch, when I go into stalking mode she even pulls back and follows from the rear, shes done this a few times, and even while shooting she wont move, just sits and waits.Very happy with her I am.The locals want me to knock their numbers down to 20 ish, going to be a busy winter.
  7. Right for all you doubters(SCENT) Left home at 6 a.m. and hit the hill at just 7.I headed for the spot I found them at the last day, well HELLO there they were in all their glory and in vast numbers.I didnt count them but there were well close to 50 or 60.Some siting, some grazing and some just having a chat with its nearest companion.Well ould Jigsaw sat the kelpie TAZ and snook(is there such a word) up to the ridge and loaded the 223 magazine and cocked it.Picked the first victim and steadied myself.Cross hairs on the skull and pull the triger,1st one down, frantic after that I must admit.I
  8. yesterday there was no wind at all,jd.like a summers dat it was.i'll sort a few out in the winter its just the conditions are not in my favour at the moment.im still enjoying it though,WHEN THEIR HUNGRY THEY DIE,
  9. i'll have to bring a flask ......and a sleeping bag the way things are going.
  10. john,at this time of the year im told, the growth is extensive all over the hill.they travell all over the place 6 times ive been out i spent 3-4 hrs looking for my lickkle fwiends......no show but once the real cold comes along they are forced to come down early morn and late evening to feed and ILL BE WAITING,JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE.Scent me ould flower, your wellcome to tag along any time.we'll see then whos past it,lol.defeat is not in my vocabulary....unless its ''the pain is coming from de feet'' from climbing bleedin mountains.Overcome, adapt and KILL AS MANY OF THE SHITS AS POSSIBLE.serio
  11. well up to this point its been dismal, lolso it can only get better.Theres a fine big puck with a hell of a set of horns in the herd, might see if I add to my taxidermy collection.
  12. Shes well tuned into the rabbits so i reckon she'll be well for big bunnies, she has a half decent nose,so will be interesting to see her work it out.The only other dog there will be Shanehounds deerhound and shes a beginer too so even stevens for all.i was going to bring my kelpie x just to flush them but I reckon after 1 or 2 she'd cotton on to catching them before they even got off their seat as shes got a hell of a brain.
  13. I arose at 6 a.m.and drove for an hour determined to get to grips with these feral goats ive been asked to cull.Arrived at the farm and got the cz 223 primed and ready to do its worst I brought the kelpie x Taz for the company.I quietly crept along the base of the hillside, listening and watching with the stealth of a cat.Taz walking beside me looking up and thinking''what the fcuk are we doing here in the bloody cold so early. After half an hour I glassed afew on top of the hill,so off I went.Climbing up through the heather and rock, picking my steps so's not to give my cover away, taz all the t
  14. im actually looking to locate a litter for my sis in law as her dog died at 12 years old last wednesday, the whole family are distraught, like loosing a brother to them, lol.
  15. IL wait for the pix of my 10 out of 10 hare dod Good response again.I personally prefer to leave the dog work it out itself.I never kept a slip dog. With Shanehound we gave the hare good law as it was mountainous country so long runs were the norm.oh really I prefer to let the lurcher work out the hiding hare rather than terriers, but I dont do a lot of this type of hunting so learning as I go.I think it'll be hard to balls this one up as the fields are huge so a lot of running is neede to dissapear from the dog.Should be good craic.I wont be too upset either way as it'll be a learning process
  16. great response guys and gals. The thing I was tinking of is finding the hare.I was thinking if they are stuck tight to their form then it would be hard to locate them as where we are going the land is huge and wide. When i have coursed before it was all slips, but he land was completely different, smaller fields and plenty of gaps. These fields are massive crop fields.Your thoughts again appreciated
  17. What your opinion on the method of hunting the hare. Now remember im in Ireland so no hassle exercising the long ears.I have a saluki at 12 months old and will be starting her on the above in a month or so.She has adecent nose and since shes totally inexperienced with the hare I tought it would be ok to let her hunt up and run her hare.Has anyone ever done this method pre ban in Britain or over here? After she was clued in I have intentions of sliping her on walked up hare.Just thought it would be good to hear the opinions of others.
  18. im out a few mornings this week and see nothing close to what you get, fair play to ye.damn handy with that camera.things are looking up kay
  19. looks like she was in for a swim scent, lol.
  20. i have a full bred saluki and shes the most obedient dog......till it comes to going back into the van, shes retrieved rabbit to me and she comes back immediately when called,im more than surprised at the response when called.
  21. Iris Lurcer, your thinking my tougts i'll stick a few more up and see wat ye think.off te topic, just look out the kitcen window and see te view that Shanehound as every day, bloody lucky or what?
  22. yeah macker,he does.let me know what you want and i'll call to him.hes very reasonable.
  23. truthfully, they are a thousand times better than the pics, and very reasonable too.
  24. Iwas in an artists home and he showed me these paintings. Now the pics dont do them even near justice, the flash was bouncing off of them. These are actually done on old roof slate, and they look unbelievable.I have my order in and have another few works of his in the pipeline. He paints any subject you want.Top class artist and I am geting a few of the patterdales and lurchers soon. What you think? Heres some he did for Shanehound, these are 20 feet off the ground but up close they are exact.
