  3. out with the lurchers today and had a top run about, game everywhere.we killed everything we flushed, the saluki x's took a lot paired up but the dog took a few singlehanded too.Im puting him to stud next year for a nominal fee.Hes lying here by the fire now having a well earned rest. The neighbours gave me a hand hanging the game in preperation for dinner. We decided we'll have a bar b que tonight and tommorow.Bet you lot havent got lurchers like mine for pulling big game
  4. go to the farm depos or co-ops and buy CHLORAS,especially designed for milking parlours and the fight against mould growth.Top class stuff. You'll have the cleanest kennells in Ireland
  5. I always thought too that a pre worked quarry knew what was coming and pushed the dog to the limits in an effort to escape, thus testing the dog that bit more than than a beast never before dug. Some times I even thought you could see a difference in the desperate attempts of the quarry trying to make good his escape, but it may have been just a very fiesty animal that wont take much pushing around.Hope that makes sense, lol.
  6. let the game run before the ban after diging it.I completely understand vermin control, but when there was no restriction on hunting before who just let the quarry off?Personally we let everything go when possible,we worked the dogs for the sport and removed the quarry to more suitable spots if requested.Just thought it might be an interesting topic.
  7. Thanks CW,I'll put an order in hopefully in the next week,no point asking to hold one for me .

  11. I think so too,it takes a family to find out the oddities in any dog, from the rough and tumble from kids to the intolerance of the wife to the expectations of me.Even after having a dog in the kennell for a few months I never feel hes actually mine when he comes from a mate as an adult or bought in from a stranger. It probably isnt fair on the dog either as he may be fine at his job.I reckon its just a personal preference with people.
  12. thanks cap, will have a peek, hopefully it wont be huge money

  19. very good reply and good to hear the terrier is heading in the right direction.Thats another oul chestnut with me,not too keen on breeding pups either,I dont mind it if I only have a few dogs but its a recepie for disaster if your boged down with dogs and dont have the space.Im a bit suspicious too when an older dog is for sale, theres lots of genuine lads out there but theres even more peddlers.
