on buying in a grown dog,be it a lurcher,terrier or guard dog etc,I never have in many a year or never will again..I prefer to buy a pup and let it grow with the household.I had the oppertunity to buy a fully trained guard dog but two things put me off,1st was I would never trust the dog as I wouldnt know what he had experienced in his younger days and 2 I was not experienced at all with dogs for protecting the house so i decided to buy young and we'd learn together.I prefer to buy my lurchers as pups and then I enjoy the basic training that comes with him.Its great watching your dog develope

heres mine.Hes just 8 months old now and is doing a good job allready,only last night he was barking with gusto at 3 in the morning,I jumped out of bed and opened the window and hit the lights,no one around.This was 3 in the morning and defo something spooked him.I spoke to him and he relaxed.This morning I went out the front and the skip bag we had was interfered with,old alloys for a bmw and bits of copper pipe gone.....at 3 .a.m. what is wrong with some people.Hes going to be a vigilant guard dog I think.

Took a fall testerday and disaster struck.I was out after a few goats and after a long hike walked right into them,so I laid down and took aim and down went the first goat.The herd consisted of roughly 20-30 animals and after the shot they took a run and didnt go too far.So I crept along staying low and as I got up neare them again I moved to the side to get a better position,the only problem was I went too far to the side and not taking notice I went straight over the side down a ridge.It was roughly 20 ft and I hit the broken and felled trees with a slap.....gun in hand.I heard the crack and
