took silas to the vets this morning its bad news he has had to have some stiches in his foot just got him going and he will be out of action for quite a while

there was a bit of wind so i took silas out for his second lamping trip the first rabbit he caught he killed it again the second one he caught he held it alive but would not bring it in then he missed one and the third one he caught he brought it straight in live to hand i was well chuffed i spotted another rabbit i gave him one last run he missed it but came back limping i checked him out and he had cut his foot took him home and cleaned the cut will see what it is like tomorrow here are a few pics

i got a pair for xmas they are spot on and they are the warmest wellies i have ever worn

took silas out for his first time on the lamp he had 3 runs and caught 3 rabbits but he did not retrieve any of them but they where all good catches here is a pic of us with our catch

i had a rotary out but the pigeons where shying away so i just used dead birds

went out yesterday afternoon to look at a couple of rape stubble fields the first one i went to there where a good few pigeons on it and a steady stream coming and going got set up and shot 52 not a bad afternoon here is a few pics

it stoped raining at dinner time so i went out for a ride to se if there where any pigeons about on the cut rape went to a few farms nothing doing on the way home i saw a pigeon pull out of the sky and down on to a field got the binns out and there was a decent patch of laid corn with quite a few pigeons on it a quick call to the farmer to get the nod got set up at 5 oclock and by 730 had picked up 39 and lost at least 8 in the corn but still not a bad couple of hours heres a couple of pics

mine disolacated one of his toes he was laid up for quite a while he has been out a few times and seemed ok but the vet said he will suffer from arthritis later in life i think he enjoyed his rest

went out for a ride round to see if there where any pigeons about got set up and had 15 shots in just over an hour and picked up 13 pigeons

heres mine miggs he catches enough for me he is a good ferretting dog and a good jumper

i have a pair of the high boots had them over a year been lamping ferreting digging and shooting mine are still ok

i nearly always end up digging and here is the ferret working the rabbit i would be lost with out my spade it will never get rusty

vauxhaul leaf green is good and if your brother is mixing it for you he could make it a matt finish which would be good -
looks like the work of a badger they start from the rear and just leave you with the skin and head

i use half shell untill i get some dead birds then replace them

when using cages you want to put them where the rabbits are feeding in the field or on the runs i have caught rabbits in both places even next to scraps where they are coming under a fence
