  1. I presume its .223, and your quarry will be foxes? My tikka with a 1-8 twist will shoot 40gr federal ballistic tips very well. Heavier bullets will drop too quick at extended range and will overpenetrate. The 64 grain federal soft point is aslo an accurate round I find.
  2. I learned the hard way too, with a pair of specs, fecked them up good and proper Better to learn on specs than binos/scopes!!
  3. I've got a varmint 75 in 308, topped off with a schmidt and bender PH 3-12X50. Its no lightweight for stalking. For pigs you've gotta have a light gun to swing easy - I presume its driven boar? The easiest thing to do is to go to a shop and pick up the two of them. Then get the Dealer to mount a scope and see then.
  4. yeah, if you can get pure acetone, and are prepared to do a lot of scrubbing
  5. OP, you can use acetone (its commercially available as nail varnish remover) to remove the moly. I've done it myself.
  6. See this http://www.gsgroup.co.za/faqbullettwist.html http://www.loadammo.com/Topics/July01.htm (There's a formula here for calculating twist rate. It useds bullet length) http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326290 They prove the idea re bullet length. As I stated already, it just so happens that heavy bullets are long.
  7. My t3 tactical seems to be able to stabilize the 40gr nosler ballistic tip (1-8 twist). Its not the weight of the bullet its the length of bullet that determines what twist rate it can be fired through. It just so happens that heavy bullets are long. Light ballistic tip bullets tend to be long for their light weight so that might suggest how my tactical is able to stabilaze light rounds. Best of luck with your new purchase OP
  8. Too big and heavy to be carting around if you're up on a hill
  9. Is this a synthetic stock? Steyrs are known for having a soft fore end, so when a bipod is deployed the stock will flex and poi will change
  10. They're not actually an anschutz. They're badged anschutz. If you're after a nice semi a krico is nice
  11. Yeah thanks, but I'm really looking for information from people that know what they are talking about not some internet commando going on about 1000yd shots Thanks dragon, all the reviews are fairly positive.
  12. hi all, I'm really into a zeiss conquest riflescope (the 6.5 X 20 X 50) and have feck all information about it. Would anybody care to share????
  13. Are they trying to tell you something
  14. To mealypied, If you check Knackered Navara's website, they have the engine serial numbers that are affected.
  15. The Drop at 100 will depend on your zero range. Using Federal 31 grain Copper Plated Hollow Points zeroed at 50yds with a scope height of 1.5" the drop will be over 4.5". Check out an online ballistic calculaor to confirm.
  16. First of all, ditch the WD40, its a waste of time. I presume its the packing grease in the barrel you're on about. I just used the Hoppes solvent and patched the barrel until clean. The Hoppes Solvent only really softened the grease. If you google "cosmoline" - thats the packing grease - you will find out more. Alternatively, get Sean to do it for you!! When I shoot my .223 I always give the bore a wipe down with Shell Helix 10W40 Semi Synthetic oil (available at all good petrol stations!!) and then just run a few patches through when I take it out of the safe again. I use motor oil becau
  17. I'd say its available with either 1st or 2nd focal plane reticles.
  18. Sorry for not getting back John, i thought if it was a timber stock it could be swelled slightly and putting pressure on the action, but its a synthetic!!!!
  19. John, is it a timber stock on the sako?
  20. If you are thinking of a .204 Ruger and reloading it, please remember the powder in the factory rounds is not commercially available yet, so you will have problems duplicating velocities.
  21. I use a bit of polystyrene and water on a wind shield to squeek for foxes, works well but the polystyrene blocks are annoying when they break up and beads go everywhere.
  22. been trying to contact these people for about 3 weeks now but they never reply to any messages left so am not sure if they are still trading or not I seen a price list on that site from AUG 2006
