  1. Of course it makes sense Stubby..of the three Jills I have here only one has been mated...for the very reason you talk about..and I will keep two maybe three Jills from the offspring..and a pal will keep two hobs..the two other Jills as good workers as they are have been in with a vasectomised hob.. But that aint really the issue in this debate...and I will ask you a question and I would like an honest answer please..so here goes..God forbid it..but if you arrived home from work tomorrow to find all of your ferrets gone..no trace..where would you look to replace them ?? Now bearing in
  2. You don't know much about GOOD working ferrets do you mate. There is a little saying that go's. You can remain silent and have people think you are a c**t or you can open your mouth and remove ALL doubt. pig face belive it or not i know more about ferrets than you or most on here will ever know. and thats not a boast, it's fact. so crawl back into your sty porky. but the best cure i found myselfe for pigs is to invite them out for a days ferreting. sorts the pork from the fat piggy, so pm's if you please from here on Friedrice...believe it or not..you do not know a great de
  3. Friedrice..you are entitled to your opinion..but if you think that mate you are sadly mistaken...I...and I know of several others who have bought plenty of ferret kits from all sorts of different lines over the years which turned out to be pure outright shite...and I am telling you now and I am 100% certain that working strains of ferret are better than show strains.. If you take your sport seriously...and I say this to Steffan to...and if you want to do well at it..get working lines...and even working lines will occasionally breed some not so good offspring..but you are significantly incr
  4. Well from what I read from time to time on here there is plenty of clown material !!
  5. Hi Steffan...if they are for work then perhaps they are best left where they are mate...sometimes free gifts turn out to be quite expensive..if having kept them for a while to find out they are shite.. There will be lots of kits available from good working stock soon..may or may not be free but they will certainly be nominally priced..personally..I would wait until the right stuff becomes available..good luck
  6. Look mate, there was nothing wrong with her right through the whole pregnancy, birth and theres nothing wrong with her now. So why the hell would i take her to the vets if there was nothing wrong with her? What are you on about mate...you know NOW there is nothing wrong with her..at least you HOPE there is nothing wrong with her...but you would'nt have posted in the first place if you thought she was ok..thats the point..and...you aint necessarily out of the woods yet... Asking advice on here is one thing..and I am sure there are plenty who can help sort a few things out..but in reg
  7. jojo, all your posts that Ive read so far, seem to be critasing, some of our members, are young lads or lasses that own ferrets, if you keep WORKING FERRETS, you dont need money coming out of your ears, the ferret catches what it eats, most aliments can be remedied at home, through posting questions on here, so, just because owners arn't rushing out to a vets, dos'ent mean they should'ent keep ferts, Id suggest you get down from your high horse, either offer good advice, or not, maybe even just stay on the pet ferret sites That must surely be the kettle calling the frying pan..
  8. we had discussed it only as .. is this possible... after some thinking and talking things over with my DH... we thought about dogs the bitch can get pregnant from different dogs at different times.. but she still has the litter at the same time roughly... so its probably not the same thing... if you are concerned get her to the VET! Now theres something..what I will do from now on is mate my lurcher to a greyhound which will give me 3/4 greyhound..and two or three days after that I will use a Saluki..so the other half of the litter will be 3/4 Saluki...no longer a need
  9. I would stick to white softwood shavings or sawdust mate..or mix them both..the redwood and hardwood sawdust and shavings does have too much very fine dust among it..and I have heard of respiratory problems being caused (suspected cause) by it..I would rather not take the chance..
  10. MAte youre jill will be fine, i left my jill in with a hob for one night put her in at eight got her out at eight so you dont need them in for a week. Absolutely spot on there mate..I put them together for one day..I normally put the Jill in before I go to work and get her out when I am home from work..never ever had a problem..I just mated a Jill a couple of weeks ago and used a pals hob, put the Jill in 7-30 am ish..and took her out 3-30 pm ish...job done.. I read on here recently from people who class themselves as knowledgeable.. that the Jill is left in until out of season..
  11. Thanks mate I will take a look..
  12. Quite plenty too Sue..two weeks ago I called on a pal to pick him up to go down the midlands to collect a puppy..when I got to his I put my Jill in with one of his hobs approx 7-30 am..I collected my Jill on the way back..at 3-30 pm ish..at most 8 hours later and took her home..she is now out of season and in kit..
  13. by you own words, you admit to knowing nothing about ferrets, yet want to breed them I'd suggest you get rid of the ferrets, read some books, get some experience, and try again thats helpful advice the bloke was just looking for some advice I think that is sound advice from Stubby mate and no disrespect..maybe not get rid of the ferret but hang fire on the breeding bit..because if hang&bang has a ferret and by his own admission is stating he has'nt a clue but is going to have it mated regardless..and after mating his Jill is then perhaps going to end up with a dozen by w
  14. I personally leave them together for only one day...morning until evening..if the jill is right on cue then thats all that is needed..the hobs are very rough on these jills and I see no reason at all to have the Jill dragged around by her neck for days on end.. I watch the Jill for a few days afterwards just to ensure that she has been mated and the swelling is receeding or in case I have to put her back in..I never have and thats in donkeys years..so one day together works for me..the hob gets to shag her brains out all day and the Jill has multiple orgasms all day to distract her from th
  15. Short and simple...seperate them..otherwise I am certain she will kill the kits..this is a bad time of year to put jills with hobs unless they are to be mated..and the young hob is almost certainly feeling the weight of himself..
  16. Hello Woz a similar dilemma beckons me..all I ever use is the Mk 1 with micro collars..and to be fair I have had no problem and I can read it pretty well down to a tee..I recently asked a few of the guys on here re the new ones and comparison to Mk 1 etc most of who were of the opinion that Mk 3 is the better of the two locators..unfortunately it was just one line answers i got back ie "Mk 3 for me mate" and so I never really got any good craic about their actual use..pros and cons.. Right at the end of last season I was with a pal bolting rabbits for the hawk and he was using a Mk 3.
  17. I am sure it will be ok Millet...anyway..I hope that you have better luck than I had with Marshalls stuff..
  18. I'll second that mate. I don't know if you remember CW but when the Old Yahoo UKFalconers site was running I put a post up about a test we did with the Marshal and Luksander! both was on 173MHZ with the marshal complete with its own Transmitter and the Luksander useing its own 3v XLF 3 Transmitter. we did the test going out towards Lincolnshire where it was nice and flat with both Tranny's hanging from a tree, Both Receivers did a good account of themselves but when I switched on the Luksander Pre Amp it took it to another level, basically it blitzed the Marshal by a long chalk... I pu
  19. It will be Garlands mate...the main uk stockist of Marshalls..I got a brand new Field Marshall reciever and two trannies at the FF in 2004..in total £900 and odd pounds..not a penny discount..not even free batteries..bacause they said I paid on a debit card...had it been cash they said they may have sorted free batteries out or something.. The Reciever let me down a time or two and went back and forward to the states..said they fixed it the first time..fine by me..same problem occurred again..I think they should have replaced it then..but they would'nt..sent it back again repaired..I had
  20. Unless you want to catch everything which comes out of the burrows..in which case you will need the nets..and the whippet will catch the odd ones which get past the nets.. Nice photos mate of a nice looking team...all the best..
  21. Yes its certainly minging...and fortunately my dogs are kennelled outside..
  22. Its certainly more economical than DOCs..but Ive never fed my ferrets tripe before..I feed it to my dogs and they enjoy it mixed in with their regular feed.. Have you fed your ferrets tripe before ?
  23. Where are you from Andy...are you actually in Sunderland or somewhere outside..btw...I was at St James's today..shite first half..better second half..but with Kenwyn up there on his own we aint going to score many..Keano needs to wake up and smell the coffee..
