  1. correct sjm......joe,in todays coursing dogs that bit of bedlington/airdale will be near enough bred out, with out the saluki blood they wouldn,t be doing the job they do now.....that origional bitch was x with a saluki...and a bitch from that litter was put to a saluki again, so the main dog in the strain is with out doubt, a saluki...
  2. If you need saluki and nothing else why have some of the best hare coursing dogs in this country got bedlington in them? which ones are they joe???? i know a certain strain have a tiny bit in them from genarations ago, but there main ingrediant is saluki

oh well.....i learn something new every day
  4. tomo you are correct on that, at the time that was filmed the ground was right for a run early season, not like now when the rain doesn,t come till november , the dogs in them videos were all pups aswell, starting at 14 month...but again even on there the dogs were good enough to kill them in fields quickly, but as soon as they hit the fens they couldn,t boss the hares......we gave all of the dogs from them the videos away as they wern,t good enough, to do the job we do you need saluki blood, nothing else
  5. well if you have the right sort of bitch you should get decent pup from any of them

  7. they cant be all the same age if there from different litters can they??? if your considering using one get it done
  8. as a rule the bitch in question is dynamite, but this season with ground being hard she isnt used to running top notch hares(fens)...i would have room in my kennel for this dog, not a problem, just been unlucky today.....giro, imho a good hare dog should be able to kill a hare anywhere, in big fens or small fields, we had a great day on them , my young dog ran 3 off the 1 slip, stopped 1st, piped 2nd then stopped 3rd, i was more than chuffed, his sister ran 3 killed 2, took the arse out of the one she missed
  9. we were out for a spot of flushing today....got some nice races aswell....but...a lad i know has been running the fields up north recently and killin hares in no time at all...killing 4,s regular in the fields....the same lad was on the fens today, ran 8 hares with his 2 dogs, (4 each) and didnt stop any......these are very good dogs aswell...but it shows the difference in quality of hare to me .....incedentilly.....there are still a group of lads down there, they got locked up in lincoln ...feckin joke

full of shit on what? having a dog that can kill hares on lamp? the matching world goes on in daytime coursing joe not doubled up on the lamp ....joe you cant be taken seriously...all your threads are about doubled up stuff on the lamp ....my preference is daytime , the job of a real dog...one dog 1 hare in daylight...to that i would exept a challenge , but to a lamping one....
  13. yes thats right joe.....its the first time in years and the last.....there a doddle, cant belive some people belive there a challenge on lamp if thats the only time my dog could catch one id be having a kennel clean out..... this thread will turn to bollocks now, like loads in the past....so we should leave it before its spoilt AGAIN
  14. to be honest , mixy has done a pretty good job of wiping alot of rabbits off my spots this year, ive been struggling to get a decent night on them, but now the rain has come ,,,its a coursing i shall go
  15. do you struggle reading joe ...does it not say in there " i havnt done it for years" as in since i owned dogs good enough to do it daytime
  16. because there easy on lamp, and no test for a decent dog....its far more rewarding to catch them daytime.....i havn,t lamped hares for years now, but i ran some last week and the dog nailed every one he ran easily, i only did it because all the ground i course on is rock hard and the dog needed to get some running done, i wont be doing it again, as its a waste of a good animal to be caught so easily.

    Old photo

do the dogs not fire into the stag? do they just hold it at bay?....i always thought it was the obvious outcome once they caught up with the deer, ..shows what i know .....good picture tho.....deer doesnt look that worried either
  18. i got all mine brought over from belgium...i think i got the number from the countrymans weekly..very good quality, and cheaper than every other price i got
  19. what do you mean by that???
  20. it doesnt make great veiwing does it? no animal can perform in them sort of numbers, at least they have the right idea and there running them in the day, got to agree with a few off here 1 dog,1 hare in the daytime, cant beat it
  21. here is here, casper, bonny animal, not the best of picture because he is tied to a bitch when it was took.
  22. ive got a 4 month old pup out of him now, very sensible pup and should have all the ingrediants for the job
  23. cheers folks..he is a bonny pup, but ...looks dont kill, and he,s a long way to go yet, to prove him self as a single handed dog
