  7. just been to my local gunshop to top up my ammo supplies of .17 hmr ammo [remington premier ballistic tips ,17gr] and worked out i paid £20.50 a hundred . This got me thinking as to what other members were paying for their .17 hmr ammo and where they were buying it from . Just like to say in the year or so i have had my cz varmint .17hmr i have had some awesome fun with it and found it to be a very reliable and accurate gun and ideal for long range rabbit and crow shooting
  8. I agree with pegandgun ,my grandfather kept ferrets for years and he never gave them water ,he just gave them proper fresh grub every day, none of this dried stuff ,and his hutchs never were wet with piss.he also would remove the old carcasses every day and change the bedding once a week mind.
  9. me and my mates have been shotgunning rabbits on a large estate in suffolk for quite afew years now ,off the back of a truck.and in that time we have tried quite a few autos, and in general most have been a pain in the arse.the only ones that have stood the test of time is a berretta ulrika and a benelli m1[8 shot]. the problem with the benelli is its weight but itsgood point is it really comes into its own when you come onto a group of rabbits .the best handling is the berretta ,and it is very reliable to ,it hardly ever miss,s a beat .this said i still prefer to use my berretta over and und
  10. just been out today and sited in my tikka properly , so i thought i would let you know the results. winchester 50 gr,s 3/4 inch group with 5 shots .very pleased with this ,had a bit of spare time so i tryed the federal 55 gr,s which i had the problems with ;2 1/2 inch group which was better than the original 4 inch group. so it goes to show the problem was with the heavier bullets, but it also shows that cleaning the barrel has helped to .going to try and get some 40 gr,s next and see how these shoot,i will keep you all informed .
  11. thanks to the gents who offered their thoughts and advice to my original post " tikka t3 varmint zeoring problems" i am chuffed to say its now sorted . All i did wos check scope and mounts were secure and the stock bolts were also tight .I then cleaned the barrel until the patch's came out clean [this took quite some time as it wos real shitty . then i purchased some winchester supreme 50 gr ballistic tip ammo and gave it a whirl last night while out lamping some rabbits . fired to 3 shot groups which averaged about an inch at a target 100 yards away across a plough ,which wos good because i

  17. yes cramp home loads are better , but surely them federals should group better than that , they were all over the bleeding place , neither me or my mate could get them to group ,beginning to think theres something up with the gun or maybe it has just got to be broke in ?
  18. thanks pegandgun for your reply . i have already checked barrel is free floating and also lightened the trigger . the mounts are sako mounts and were fitted to the gun by my local gunsmith. the scope is a schmidt and bender 3-12 x 50 which came off my 17 hmr and is only a few months old and and has'nt missed a beat . [bANNED TEXT] i should have mentioned is the gun is new and these are the first rounds through it ,dont know if this is the problem .by the way i live in suffolk .thanks met ..
