Fair point, with the exception of Thatcher being patriotic. She was a firm advocate of the EU and did more to get us "in" than many before her. She may have done it under the auspices of patriotism believing that we should be in the "inner sanctum" of brussells. The Falklands was without doubt a piece of fortuitous luck for her. It diverted the attention of a poor/collapsing economy at home whilst promoted and stirring national unity in a fight thousands of miles away that to be honest we were never going to lose.
