Got it in one my point exactly one of mine went BOB at crufts without having a bath!!!! Hed been running in the muddy field at 4am the same morning and I can remember picking dried mud off his belly as we waited for the judge to go over him!!! Depends on the breed mate

i heard about this, but i believe many of the Springers had undocked tails so i presume (I may be wrong) that many of these Springer’s had not been bred as working dogs, rather, as pets. I believe Springer’s along with Labs are in the top 10 breeds of dogs being rehomed. Many people get these’s dogs as cute pups without the understanding of how much physical and mental stimulation they require, pretty soon these pet owners can’t cope with the destruction dogs cause, based on boredom. That’s why i believe working dogs should be worked, or at least given the stimulation they require.

Ooh I'm drooling at the thought.... I love liver, you dont need to do anything off the wall for the coating, just well seasoned flour.... saying that, if the bacon that you are cooking it with is the very salty type, dont use too much in the coating, just some good fresh milled black pepper. A splash or two of lee n perrins when its cooking is good too (I'm having duck breast tonight) cheers all....its a nice little roe liver....shot at the weekend so fresh and delicious (i hope)

anyone have a secret coating they can share with me for frying venison liver please? want to do liver bacon and onions tonight!

exactly. I sit on more than one sub committee where we are constantly trying to ensure that we retain breed type and fit for purpose......its the breed clubs, more often than not, run by dyed in the wool dog folk (those few of us that are left) who initiate changes to breed standards. And to be honest, a quick look back through the records will show that most breed standards have not been changed apart from minor things like colours or ocassionally an eye shape or similar, in a hundred years.

Would they really care? After all, as long as it looked OK! To my mind the KC have ruined many good breeds and created nothing more than animals that fit the fashion of the day. Take the English Bull Terrier for example. Some t~~t at the KC decided that the flat forehead was no longer what is required but a rounded lamb-type head was instead. Why? Look at the Bulldog - f~~ked. And we could go on and on and find animals with all sorts of problems to do with hearing, bone growth, breathing, etc, etc. To my way of thinking if we want to save dogs breeds then the first thing that should be don

and sold for how much? wilf....that was the deficit i was left with after selling 5 out of the 7 puppies in my last litter.

my penneth worth> re the endorsements. Some of us have spent many many years developing a line that can excel in both the hunting field and on the show bench.......I certainly endorse all papers of any pup I sell for the simple reason that I dont want some twit messing up what is effectively something I have spent many thousands of pounds on trying to improve upon!! Certainly I will lift the endorsement if I feel that the pup is suitable for breeding and is both good enough in conformation, temperament and ability once it reaches maturity. Another factor is that I want the pup i sold to

Darcy I fully agree......but....is it legal to release them? Would love to drop her right in the sh1t as shes quite high on local council and also on the National (mis)Trust with whom I have big issues over their stance on stag hunting. Would be great to be able to show that one of their head honchos was breaking law!!!

i know mate.....no chinese restaurants or garbage round here for them to feed on...i think she just turns them out every now and then and feeds them for a bit until they wander off (and then we shoot them) but im really keen to know the legaility of what shes doing...anyone know?

one of our local bunny huggers and rabid antis, has for years been suspected of releasing dumped foxes because over the last 6 years we have often found big numbers of foxes wandering from her woods to our fields, looking vague and disorientated. Anyway...... last week we decided to take a closer look at her woods...and.... discovered a massive purpose built pen .....full of foxes so....any ideas what we can do about it? Is it even legal???? My OH is all for going down at night and releasing them all but im more for doing something more permanent....legal ofcours

would it be possible to have a "rogues gallery" on the forum where we could post pix and names of known antis? Also the area in which they are known to operate? I was shocked last week to be given a print off of photos of known antis in my area only to discover one of them was someone we had been seeing at our local meets and none of us had suspected him!!! I know the antis print pix of us in their websites so cant we do the same?

likewise if you can get him to devon i know of a 1st rate home waiting with big sofa!!

[bANNED TEXT] aload of crap you get alicence when the taxidermist gives it back to you. ive only just had one done amonth ago. so stop talking thru your ass well having rung 4 taxidermists...one said ok but no questions asked 2 said absolutely "no" because of all DEFRA paperwork and 4th said I had to get \ PM done before hed touch it....so it seems even they dont know the rules?? Defra said it could only be done for educational or museum purposes....so much conflicting info even from the experts. next question can anyone reccommend a registered taxidermist who actually does a good job?
-
Hi Courtenay, yes I often go but not sure if going to make it this year as it depends on a current job I am undertaking thats proving time consuming Its an excellent exhibition and highly recommend it if you can get there.

Does anyone know the definitive rules regs on stuffing a genuine road kill otter. I have found it nigh on impossible to get any info from Defra and on the wonderful interwebby thingy i cant find any decent taxidermists. i went through old cla catalogues and rang a couple up but neither wanted to touch it incase it was dodgy! So does anyone know the real rules or even know someone who would do an otter?
-
hi yes I am based there much of the year. what do you want to know?
-
thats correct used it on dogs many times also it is used at a and e at hospitals no brand name on tube to keep us in the dark I had a look they don`t like to say much i will find out some how As stated before it was invented for field medics in Vietnam I have had to use it once on a barbed wire cut to a dog most important that wound is cleaned ,then apply and seek vetinary assistance. i prefer staplers as leaves a little bit of open wound for drainage.

in the UK there is no difference between the working and show lines and same for longevity, between 8 and 10 is the norm. At UK working trials there are dual champions (ie show ring and working champions) and at the last count I did there were 36 hounds competing at working trials, hunting up to 6 miles 24 hours cold, and out of those 36 30 were winners at major UK championship shows.

On two of our mooches around the farm this week we have found rabbits turned inside out and a pheasant turned perfectly inside out......taxidermist couldnt have done it better Has anyone seen this before? In all our joint years weve never seen it before? Maybe one particular fox is specialising in it? But its odd because so much meat was there. i was almost untouched!
