  1. I wouldn`t use anything else for longrange shooting... The target turrets are great and each click is both audible and has a possitive feel to it when dialing in.. I have a 5.5-22x 50 on my 223 and its there to stay. As Remmy said there are brighter scopes such as s&b,sworo, ect but as far as durability and reliabily goes.. The nightforce is the go....
  2. couldn`t of said it better myself... Im just a beginner myself and what snap shot just quoted is bang on..
  3. S&b Mate... spend the few extra euro and get the illumanate reticle.... you wont regret it
  4. Well done mate.. One to remember..I still remember my first fox.... Its a good buzz alright
  5. You should of bought 4 boxes of .223 and that would make the difference in the hmr..
  6. Olly must be getting a blister on his trigger finger by now
  7. Lads.. what is the difference between 223and 222? your all going to say ".oo1"I know I could look It up on the net but I would like to hear different opinions...Im not talking about price and accessibility of factory ammo.. Im talking accuracy and knockdown power compared to its slightly bigger brother the 223.
  8. only joking mate... Nice shooting. yhe pair of ye
  9. Average :drag: :drag: :drag: :drag: :drag:
  10. I should of proof read it first.... didnt quite sound right did it..I shot it as he was coming in to join the flock...
  11. Got my first goose today.. I was driving the young lad out to his mates house this afternoon and noticed out the corner of my eye a flock of birds feeding in a stubble field..I didnt hink anything of it as young Gary had the car stereo up to the last and the trafic was kaos.. It later clicked to me that they were too big to be pidgeons...F*&% me I said.. There graylag geese.. So I dropped Young Gary off and I think I broke a land speed record to get back to where they were and indeed geese they were... So then it was a quick 4 mile trip to my house...As I entered the sitting room my Mrs
  12. thanks mate I will pick up a few boxes today and get get me some duck
  13. Hi lads... What size shot would ye recommend for mallard as i have never shot duck before.. Thanks Dwight
  14. I know a lad who has a 270 blazer with a can on it.. I might take that for a test drive before i make a decision.
  15. Thanks for your comment V.. Your right in what you say....Ive never had a runner with the 6.5.. Well only one but he got about 30 yds before he fell on his snout....And the recoil on the 6.5 is very user friendly. Most shots are taken around -200 and i`d only take a 200 shot if I am positioned in a spot to use a bi-pod... Im just curious as i havnt shot a 270 and what peoples thoughts are...Plus im due for a new rifle as i like to trade in after 2yrs use... Dont ask me why... Its just something i do.. Its a toss up between a tikka t3 lite in 6.5 and 270 but I think I will stick with the 6.5
  16. Well done..Nothing like your first..I bet your hooked now.. Give this a try...Head out a few hours before sunset and pick out the tallest tree around...Dress up in full cammo and face net and wait under the tree for them to come into roost for the night...Its great craic picking them off as they come in to land on a branch....It might be a bit hard this time of year as there is still a lot of folage on the trees but as winter sets in and the leaves start to fall you will have a blast...
  17. Hi there. Im thinking of getting a .270 win for deer.(sika and fallow) Currently I shoot a CZ 550 in 6.5x55 and am happy with it But am tossing around the idea of something that shoots a bit flatter. I was thinking of tikka t3 in .270win and was hoping to get some imput about this cal from ye out there.. Thanks in advane Dwight
  18. I dont know what scope it is but that one nice looking piece of timber you have... I like the grain in it... Bit of a CZ nut I am..
  19. I`d go 22.250....Better still .243. But if your torn between 223 or22.250 the 22.250 will shoot flatter and produce alot more energy at impact.Which in my book would give you a little more room for error in your shot.. When I used to live i Australia we used 22.250 on kangaroos and it would knock em flat... Just my 2 cents worth mate... Good luck with your decision
  20. That gets the thumbs up in my book.
  21. I often throw a dead bunny belly up amoungst my pattern. I find that when doing this that they will come in nice a low for a better look... The grey crows love it..
