    Why a 28 inch allrounder? I got 1 that's 25, 25 is perfect for any quarry if the heart is there. I just like to have the opportunity to slip on what's there. I don't think it's down to the weather, it's got to be vhd, from what I've herd.

    With numbers of rabbits being 48% down through out England in the last 20 years and I'd say more like % in the east and south east, why does anyone breed the likes of the whippet greyhound or the collie greyhound or whippet? I'm not knocking either cross it's just if a jobs redundant what's the point. now I know some like chasing plastic bags at shows etc but this is more a question for the working lurcher owner.     and as for violent gangs, no but the sad fact is if youv not got permission you could be on the end of a hiding from keppers and gangs of farmers so it helps if you can hold your hands up when required! all because you like to see a dog behind a hare.

    yes i do. they give you as much hassel if your on your own. I know a few good farmers yes, however most are rich selfish a*se holes who have been lucky to be born into land and money getting others to work thier inherited lands. Correct shooters are legal but the reason i used the example is they often say hare coursers (on foot) damage thier crops yet it doesnt mater when shooters walk on the same seed. farmers are driven by money iv seen hare numbers drop due to thier factory style mass farming not coursing, they dont leave stubbles and most dont even like hares, all they like is mone

    You believe what they say don't you. Farmers don't help there self's. Iv been threatened and run of the road, they say it's there property, most farmers have had farm shop in their family since saxon times. In reality it's only 3 or 4 men on land, but their quite happy having a whole shooting party's. On the same land!!

    My mate had same thing, you probably saw it on country file. They charged him with nothing kept his dogs for a year, my mate didn't want the agg and left it. I told him to go to national press, I would have made them pay! the way they treated him and his wife was criminal and they wasted 200 odd grand and got nothing. I hate them and tell them as much every time we meet!

    Well I've been reading some biast views and some more sensible ones on this subject over the last few weeks.     Could be, round my way its chalk in the water I think, but heaps of people keep dogs on concrete, could you roof the run and use saw dust? It keeps the smell down, just use a horse fork to clean the mess up.

    Keep my dogs on fine dry saw dust that don't crack the pads, I wouldn't think concrete would cause it, the white is the water used in the concrete when it dries can't see that being the problem myself?

    I know a man who comes over bad when he drives by the sighns saying you are entering fen land! he has only ever run fields and small fields at that, my mate told him the dog was to steady a dog for we're he "courses" but he still took he's medioka bitch. Low and behold 2 years later he's got a heap of big dogs on his hands and paint runs faster. Horses for courses but by the sounds of them they wouldn't be my cup of tea.

    Trail the concrete up to a smooth finish, using a bull float if you can get 1, the surface will be far less porous than a non trailed up surface. You can use a sealer, if its trailed up it shouldn't need a great deal, resi block is good but fades at different rate and can look patchy, a zylene based sealant will do, stencil tech, or pic seal do these, there not cheap at around pound for 25 ltrs if you want it less slippy chuck a few grains of sand in it before it drys but this probably won't last if you scrap shovels on it. Any way I'm sounding like any anorach now! At least I learned

    The history channel. Every topic about dogs of the past, untill and if the ban gets lifted that's the closest a lot of people will get to coursing, talking about and watching it on you tube, be honest you may as well keep eggs and seamen from good dogs and bitchs frozen somewhere, save kennelling and feeding dogs just to keep lines alive! It's been sh*t for ages can anyone see it being like the hay days of mid 90s early 00s this season?     Not that important, I went 15 + years with out having any where I was aloud to work it! A technicallity that. Don't let that stop you. You need experience to gain permission/ keep it and to get experience you need to get out and do a bit first.

    The futer? You can't run a dog I front of more than 3 people with out ending in court and losing your licence, vehicle and dog! It's a waste of time owning a good dog it don't get no credit, and when people did get a good dog in the past it would only get chored! The hunting act doesn't stop fox hunting, it was fetched into make it possible to really go to town on poachers which lets face it every one who run hares is because! no farmers going to admit giving any one permission to run a cup like the forley cup was on his land. With out a repeal coursing hasn't really got a futer.

    Since the Lucas dog your all jumping up and down in Ireland, hares on grass paddocks ain't coursing, your all very blinkered, there's nothing in Ireland like our land here, Lucas seems to be flying your flag, I know his owner has a few others that can run a bit but he's got acces to good blood from matings etc. We're is the big flood of your paddock dogs!? No where unless the boat got lost. Come over here and test them.

    As has already been said the quality breed dogs that can run a strong hare on big land can adapt to run on other ground. Dogs that can run on little land are not always able to last a course on big land. When people see the likes of lucky running on desert like land they assume he is being run there because that's the only place he could run, that's simply not true, all the big comps were run on big land so both dogs had no excuses, but them same dogs won matchs on fields all over, I know men who see lucky killing in style on smaller fields.     Ridiculous statement, your saying in small fields in Ireland that's a better test than on big land total rubbish.! A lot of hares die at hedges and dykes walls etc, as they have 1 eye on a dog and 1 on getting through an obstacle, they hesitate and get picked up. A true test is a fit hare on open land that knows his ground, you make big statements like that, have you run both big and small land regular? A whippet greyhound would kill in small fields every week but that don't make him a well breed coursing dog.

    As I say the man I knew was a fool, sold a bitch I gifted him and told me it snapped a leg knocked me 300 for a dog I let him take till he could pay me then disappeared like a fart in the wind. Greg Sadler if any one knows him.

    Here's how lass was breed.. From les Hughes himself Sire DUKE breed out of laddie bred dog to a bitch that was out of bob Davis bobed tailed. Dam full saluki bitch that cost £30 from a dogs home. The stuff of folk law a bit like laddie the street accident himself!

    I tried to set a match up with that dog last season with joe Hughes dog they had tevez full sister a bitch with a coat like fettle. They still have bill for that matter but kelvin owned him when he went to fettle, be honest the sister weren't much. Weren't fella who owned tevez a terrier man? A fool who I knew said he knew him that's how I tried to sort the match.

    He's a deer and fox man and he works hes stock heaps, but he's a bullx and terrier man he's no intrest in coursing dogs, just saying what the land is like and when I've been to Ireland I only see grass lands and big hills, not my idea of running ground. I was spoilt were I live, I don't know how boys do it who have to drive hours just to get a run, I used to travel for a change but I used to drive to good land in 15 minits !

    Don't take this the wrong way because I know there's some good dogs from Ireland but is there good eneough land over there to be worth owning a well breed dog and can they be tested properly? My mate in Galway reckons paddocks here are big fields were he is!
