  18. This is a good question & I'm sure everybody will have their own strong opionions, I have judged for many years, & yes if I am truthful there are certain crosses that I prefer- HOWEVER what ever type I judge, in my mind I ask myself, would this type of dog take the quarry that it specialises in & if so, is it in tip top condition , & go from there, as regards does the dogs looks affect it's work, of course not, but saying this they still have to be fit, have no lameness etc , & be in good physical condition - but unfortunately there are alot of judges out there who would
  19. As I was the photographer it was a bit difficult to handle my own dog, had a different 'handler' for my other dog. I have always photographed the 2 New Forest Shows, With 3 rings being judged, I have to forgo showing my own dogs, but believe credit should be given to person handling the dog. No other motive !!

  22. I was also at the Newbury show yesterday & it was my dog that was awarded Champion Lurcher. as regards working, he will take 2 out of 3 long eared rabbits & in the winter is lamped on a regular basis. However I like all my lurchers to be dual purpose & yes I will present them in good condition to any judge. Their teeth are cleaned (not at the show) to prevent gum disease in later years, & their coats are clean, there is nothing wrong in good presentation if you want to show your dog- everybody has a choice. Shows are to enjoy in the summer period.

  24. Yes, I had the same problem, Vet put 'Lurcher' on vaccination card, however I have one Lurcher with Petplan (crossbreed policy) & one with Sainsbury's. & they are both registered as Crossbreeds. If you check online with all of the insurance companies they now list Lurcher as a breed, but of course technically it is not, they are all Crossbreeds. They are not Kennel Club recognised, so how can these companies list them as a breed ? And you may have noticed that it is more expensive to insure a Lurcher rather a Crossbreed, crazy isn't it? I have 'Cover for life' for both of my hounds, &
