    Thanks. I dont know the area. Just a few questions. What sort of forest is it? Would they survive in pine plantations, or does it have to be mixed woodland? Are they very tame, or reclusive? Do they venture far from cover onto pastures? google 'new forest ,hampshire' its mixed heath and ancient woodland some plantation too,as for the pigs temprement hard to say,theyre not shy and can been seen wandering along the roadside. could easily be taken with a boar spear! heres one asleep on the side of the road:

    ive just started making snares,i successfully made 20 this afternoon and have sited them on some hedrow runs,i only put 6 out for a first attempt. anyhow a while back i aquired a fab bit of kit for twistingthe wires together,i had seen one on a snare making dvd,originally it was a hand crank bench grinder,my ol man recons circa 1900,with a bit of a tinker i attatched a cup hook on the shaft ,it has a ratio of 11 : 1 and i turn it 4 times per snare. anyone else use one of these?

    ive been working on a nice hunter knife for my mate 'mayfly'.its a hunter in 440 stainless steel,the handle is montanna ivory with red liners and a brass lanyard tube,ive still got a lot of shaping and polishing to do , and when thats done i will be scrimshawing a picture of a mayfly on the ivory handle. jobs done! ive finished the knife, polished and scrimshawed with the mayfly pic! i was quite nervouse about the scrimshaw but ime chuffed with the way its come out! now i have the sheath to make this evening,i love sheath making,quite theraputic!

    According to Mr Brown inflation is running at a nice happy 3% but as highlighted on BBc 24 in real terms its more like at least 30%,and the recent fuel strikes in scotland have just given the greedy sods ANOTHER excuse to hike up fuel prices. we live in a very rural area,we have 3 busses a week 2 on a wednesday to the same market and another on a saturday to salisbury market and stayes for 2 hours,the nearest shop is an 8 mile round trip which is a long 8 miles 0n a pushbike or shankses poney! but never the less we have decided to scrap our 2 cars,the first to go will be the mondeo today,the

    went over to a local lake for an hour between showers this afternoon, jack managed a whopper on floating crust and a home made quil float,he bravely and tirelessly faught the leviathan for over 20 minutes with yard after yard of line won and lost,eventually landing it on the slipway,i estimate the fish to be about 15lb.
