  1. I think it was last year that LACS launched a Freepost service for members of the public to contact them in writing with info about people contraveening the hunting act. BIG mistake, FREEPOST means LACS pay all the postage costs.......well as I understand it, thanks to a little PR by Jezza Clarkson, they got sent thousands of letters, some includind a dead grey squirrel by pro hunt supporters.......cost LACS £1,000's!!!!! LACS
  2. Have a look at Silvermans online catalogue..............
  3. Depends on the exertion and air temperature; if its quite warm then you will be better diluting a standard isotonic energy drink like Lucozade with water, about 50/50, and just keep taking regular mouth full sips. If you wait say half an hour or longer and have bigger drinks you are more likely to suffer cramps and also not reap the benefit of maintaining your fluid levels. Pre run, you want to build up some quality slow releasing carbs; not neceseraly the full "load" the pros talk about but a decent rice or pasta meal also some proteins too and some small oat bars to have a regular bite on d
  4. This Saturday!??? Have you done much running before?...... If you are reasonably fit and of decent mental strength, the biggest thing is to pace yourself, not to kick the ass out of it. Hour lower back, hips thighs and calves will KILL!!!! But with good paceing, good warm up and cool down, your biggest problem will be the mind game of not giving up......
  5. Thats me in te avatar and again at this link........ http://www.the-challenge.co.uk/node/2 ....and the Mrs...... http://www.the-challenge.co.uk/node/10
  6. Selling my Miroku 6000 Trap shotgun; its 12bore, 30inch brls, high trap rib with two beads and a Monte Carlo stock. With Grade 5 wood and engraving. Fixed choke, open & open. This is a very well build rare shotgun, a dream to shoot, very easy with great ballance. The only two Grade 5 models I have seen recently were selling for just under £1700 and £1800 respectivly. Looking for £1500 o.n.o Pics to follow, with link to Guntrader add. Or I can email pics. Located in Cotswolds, but can deliver to North Shrops or Wrexham area during working week.
  7. As has been said above; if its just a case of needing insurance (and anyone shooting should have it), then there are other orgs that are cheaper; SACS as mentioned above and Countryside Alliance, I think the CA are doing 18 months for the price of 12 at the moment. The big benefit BASC have is that they have an expert department for all areas of shooting, from gamekeeping, firearms to gundogs; so any advise you need there is always someone on the other end of the phone that can help you. They have had a lot of bad press for not helping people, but in these cases I understand the people in
  8. What was theweather like there yeasterday? Its inf lashing it down here (Slimbridge) at the moment, should be leaving in a the next hour or so; just not sure about theweather!! With five dogs a little 'un and push chair, me and the Mrs it could be a messy effort!
  9. Well done boys!!!! A well deserved win!!
  10. Try either removing your bead and replacing it with a "sight-eaze", which is a inch ling fiberoptic which acts like a bead but due the the nature of FO is increases your ability to focus straight along its path; alternativly shoot in glasses, and use a small plaster or tape on the inside of the centre of the lense. This will still allow you to have full periferal vision but will stop your left eye creaping to take over and donimate the focus of your sight pitch. If this doesn't make sence, pop into a gun shop and they will show you what I mean. You can actually buy small stickers for just
  11. claiming that he faced persecution from political opponents in Iran. I should think he'd face the same if your average UK tax payer ever gets hold of him too!!!!!!!!! Just what exactly does Sharia Law say about people who steal from the Nation and commit fraud??!!
  12. This guy is Brock, he'd love to have a reputation but unfortunatly he may have got the looks but there is daylight between his ears!!
  13. I charge £200.00 per day per person however; I only sell a few days here and there to clients from the States and Europe who come over for a week or so to do a bit of sport, so the price includes B&B, food and transport etc
  14. I've just moved to near Gloucester, though I'm orriginaly from North Wales which is how I got involved with shooting.sh, I even put him in tough with a friend in Llangollen who wanted to let therights on his farm and the price was a bit rich for me! Though I don't think he shoots that land anymore as the woods have been sold off to be felled. I been to Llangollen last season,i got my 1st woodcock and my first Grouse.Do you know where can i do this kind of shooting apart from shooting.sh. I mean where can i go with my Springer and walk the whole farm and c what we can get..Cause it to
  15. Also worth a look are the clasifieds in the back of Shooting Times, out every Thursday.
  16. Welcome..... Are you going to be shooting too or just interested in working your dog? As a novice (I take it from what you say that you are) it can be a minefield and there is no set route into it; as a starter I would get down to your local gun shop, they shouldhave details of any local gun dog clubs etc If you want to start shooting get down to a clay ground for a lesson, thats the best way to learn and progress. If its gun dogs, a quick Google search should find a club or trainer in your area, also BASC have a dedicated gun dog adviser, I can give you her number; and NOBS are w
  17. I posted about this prick a few weeks back; donates funds to LACS, and has just joined forces with PETA.......muppet not Beatle!
  18. Try offering to pay the farmers you have asked; someone I know found it impossible to get permission for a bit of rough shooting, bunnies, lamping etc; offered a farmer 50p per acre on a 300acre farm and got "exclusive" written permission! On the other hand, if you arewilling to pay a small amount, have a look at www.shooting.sh; for £350 a year its all the shooting you could wish for; game and vermin.

  22. I'm also a member, have been since day one and know Bob quite well. Its good value for money.
  23. My advise would be to tackle from multiple angles; get word out to the farmers, write to them, ring them, spread the word at your local gun shop that you are looking and willing to pay, make sure every keeper and shot in the area knows so that wordgets out. There are no real sites dedicated to this, but it might be worth speaking to your local rep from NOBS, BASC etc Also take a look at the web sites of some ofthe rural land agents or estate agents in your area. Do a Google search for "sporting or shooting rights" in your eare, Idid and it came up with a local firm I'd never heard of when I w
