  1. The UK is the UK. End of. Wales has an assembly of its own, but heh, we are all in this together in my eyes. Though not tomorrow on the rugby field!!!
  2. Thanks, it would be great to see something develop from this over time. Someone pointed out (it may have been you Chris not sure) the diferance in support/membership between us (this forum and others like it and all the organisations) and them (LACS as an example). We far far outnumber the antis, yet we get much worse press and are at war with each other and their smaller membership is working much better. Why? Well. I believe its because the members of LACS (and other antis) regardless of why they hate us and want to ban field sports, all have a common goal - to ban "blood sports". That
  3. Having representation for ALL is just exactly the idea. I didn't put a "None" option on the poll as in my experiance (I do have some!) most hunters are a member of some organisation or other; even if its just the Pony Club!! I don't think the need is for yet another organisation that rapes us of £50 for a bit of advise on this or that, a lot of political infighting with the other organisations and the odd PR coup; what I think is needed is a group/organisation/associatio, call it what you will, that represents ALL field sports participants equally, that promotes and encourages participati
  4. Hmm.......thats a big statement TSA...........well?............you have pulled the trigger now, lets just hope you havent shot yourself? I'm a bad shot, don't worry. I have some ideas, have for a while. Think they need a bit of sharpening up before the feelers get sent out, but I think its time something was done!
  5. I can only agree with you there. In September 06 I started this thread to see who did what... it became quickly apparent that all the disciplines are linked in some way. The only division, in fieldsports, appears to be the actual representation. I know many people, as I'm sure you do, that are involved in several different kinds of sports. Yet in all this time they have to join several groups that represent them only on single issues. In all this time only the BFSS (read CA) have tried to encompass all of that yet have utterly failed the people they come to represent. If someone was capabl
  6. That really depends on the land. but hedge your bets at between £5-10k per acre. But like I said it depends on the land. Quality arrable or farming land will cost more per acre than gorse and brush, and native woodland more than an evergreen wood per acre..............
  7. I think its sad that you think and feel that, but to a degree I agree; I have seen all sorts and unless we do something posative we WILL lose. Field sports is a very broad game, it encompasses fishing, running dogs, digging dods, many types of shooting, mounted hunting and more. Each participant looking out for their own sport in this time of uncertanty; we almost need someone to stand up and tell us what the common link is, where all our sports interlink, why it is that we love what we do........because deep down I think we have all forgotten about the big picture, about the countryside and w
  8. I think like you have said its apathy from the sporting population and where the organisations are concerned its one upmanship. No organisation wants to concede to another and they each a=have an agenda of their own, thats why I think an "organisation" or group that is only dedicated to uniting all field sports fans while promoting the sports to the population as oposed to solely looking out for one group is the way forward. Not to do the job of BASC or the other, they each have a dedicated roll to play.
  9. I think it might just happen. Just needs someone to make a start. Apathy is the biggest killer in this like you say. Its not the antis that hurt us, its the infighting and the apathy; if we can come together to support an ideal, we can still have BASC and the rest of them, but we can also do something positive to promote our way of life. And who knows, this war of attrition might just start to move in the right direction???
  10. Without having yet another organisation to dilute the voice, I think having an organisation/group to organise events and activities that we can ALL support and get behind to promote and show what good we do would be of use. Not one that competes with the existing organisation for membership, offering this or that service, but one that everyone can get behind regardless of weather they hunt, shoot, fish, run dogs or whatever. One big problem as I see it is that very few of these organisations actually do anything to promote or maket to the public. They attend country shows aplenty, to get m
  11. There are so many organisations, each with a speciality but each also asking for a slice of our money and none of them uniting all field sports and fans in the fight to promote the way of life we all love and enjoy. Is it time we had one organisation, even if it was a non membership one, which could unite everyone from all walks of life who love and enjoy the countryside, the sport it offers and the way of life that goes with the sports? An organisation that speaks for everyone by promoting what we all know to be good, showing the rest of the UK that we are decent people from all walks o
  12. Think you are right there. Plus a picnic and bits, for a few of us it worked out quite expensive. Worth the money on my part but I can wholy understand that the majority of "hunters" would not want to be spending that sort of money; for a family or a group it makes it very expensive!! I think thats where a lot of the bigger organisations are going wrong, trying to cater for and get money out of the "country set" those who read The Field as oposed to Countrymans Weekly (don't shoot me down, I'm generalising just as an example). No wonder the antis think we are all toffs. Sure there is plent
  13. Agree; do not think he should represent our country at all. Ok, he served his ban and took the punnishment but at an event like the Olympics, where the Olympic ideal is all about honesty, integraty and fair play I do not think he should be alowed to represent us or our country. As far as his not being tested during the two years he was banned, and the chance that would give him to use performance enhancing drugs; I can asure you that he will have been subject to doping tests at random intervals throughout that two year period, likewise the drug he tested poss for, Nandralone Decanote (deca
  14. Looks like I'll be waching the game in the P.U.B..............wearing my kilt and England shirt.....showing my mixed blood! But TBH I don't think Scotland have a chance in hell, not that England have been playing at their best but they are still consistantly better than Scotland I'm afraid. Either way it'll be a good craic and we'll have a few
  15. Cheers guys, much as I had suspected. Have spoken to BASC about it and they say the same, although it is "understandable" that plod would like me to have some rights in their force area (Glos). Like you all know I'm sure, its not a two min job to get permission, esp when you have just moved to a new area. TBH, I have no desire to have any permission in the area as all my shooting is covered; places I have leased for business and on friends and family land, it just hapens to not be in Glos..... We'll see how it panns out!
  16. It was a CA organised event so every single CA member *should* have known about it. I certainly got emails and leaflets about it quite a way in advance. I agree though, it should be made more accessable for more regular wallet. That was certainly one of the things that put me off. BUT having said that, some of us think nothing of spending our money on tickets to football, rugby or gigs etc although I think it was still a little higher priced than i've ever paid to go to Twickenham. Twickers???? Bloody heel, Countryside Rocks cost a whole lot more!! I cant remember the ticket price n

No, Trans-K9; they are up in Scotland. The best put together cages on the market.....
  18. K9 all the way, not the cheapest but that are great. They have a stand at most of the bigger shows so you can see their products there.
  19. S & B all the way if money was no object. If money is tight..................save like crazy and buy a............S & B!
  20. I actually prefer a 16b, thats my shotgun of choice. The guns I own are chosen because they are nice guns that do the job I want, not because I HAVE to have the biggest or best cal for this or that job. Someone on here said 20's are rubbish and should only be concidered for wooses who can't handle the recoil of a 12......nonsence! If you are good enough you can shoot anything with a 20 that you can with a 12, so why go for a 12?! In fact in Europe the 16 is the more common cal..... ....I like them all; even my little 410! But that little 16b is the sweetest game gun I've ever come ac
  21. Looks like a scene from the film Indepeandance Day to me!
  22. Thats a cracking doorstep view......like it! Jealous....
  23. I have just moved from Shropshire to Gloucestershire and have just had my FAC & SGC back from the local FAD, all fine, no probs. I have an open FAC with a .22; 17HMR and .243 on. It was granted as open from day one because at the time I was an RFD and held (still hold) written permission outside the then police authority area of West Mercia (in north and mid Wales, Herefordshire and Fort William). Now, even though my FAC is open the FAO tells me that they are unlikely to aprove my renewal later this year let alone leave it as open, unless I get some permission within their force ar
  24. Ditto that! Got four pairs, without a doubt the best leather boots I have ever come across!
