  1. I have just gone and asked farmers on my ground,if they had any old pipes lying around they didn't want and its suprising what you'll find. Worth trying a tip/or where builders dump stuff too.
  2. I agree on the use of plastic pipes,if you can get hold of clay/concrete 9inch pipes, use them, they seem to be more effective. Actually just made two more today, just trenched along a bank about 10-15ft,down about 1 1/2 ft,and used flat shaped stones to make an imitation stone culvert type job!! Make sure you pick the right spot also, some where sheltered from the wind, and when it rains, does not fill up with water(like my first attempt!). Try making the entrance at an angle,to stop drafts. Hope this is of some help, cheers.
  3. Been a little busy today checking earths, sorting kids out and dogs, plus trying to fit work in there somewhere aswell.... If you both would pm me and give me your mobile no.s or you can have mine,we can talk tomorrow.

  13. Brilliant to see a youngster out! Well done F.K! My son is 3 in june, and loves coming out running the lurchers and terriers.Already had him out ferreting last season, and he is really keen! All the best.
  14. True,i have used this trick to great effect.Call them in with a decent mouth call from a distance, once they get closer change over to the squeaker and it works well..Also,to go back to the polystyrene posts,it does work reasonably well. We used to use it in calling foxes when up on the mountains,by scraping solid small blocks on the windscreen of the hi lux, gets them interested a long way away, but once they start coming stop using it,change to a different hand call,we found that it would put them off once they got closer. But to be honest, you should really be able to call with your hand and mo
  15. Hi,im looking for a decent coursing bred greyhound bitch as a brood bitch.Ideally bigger the better, willing to pay for the right bitch.pm me if you prefer, thanks.
  16. Deffo kennel them seperate asap mate, otherwise you will regret it.
  17. Personally i wont have anything else apart from bull crosses in my kennels.Ive tried most of the other crosses of lurcher in the past, but rate the bull cross the most(my opinion).Yes,as with any other cross, you will get shit, from people breeding from shit,'just to have a pup' or 'cause my mate wanted a pup' bollox.Get a dog from proper working lines, worked reguarly. You wont go far wrong with your bull cross mate, take your time with him, dont rush, let him go at his own pace and you will,im sure have a cracker. I love the grit and determination this cross posses and not entered to early and spoi
  18. I agree, its in the blood.I have been hunting etc since i was about 9 yrs old, always wanted to be out with my old air rifle, trying for a rabbit or wood pigeon, and still can remember the adrenaline rush of actually potting one! These days, its very similar, out with the rifle for foxes,i still get a buzz when one comes galloping up the field to the response of my caller. My biggest passion though, has, and always will be,my dogs. Its an age old past time of using dogs to hunt, and you will never rid genuine hunters of that, ban or no ban,..... hunting will be here for ever.
  19. I feed all my dogs predominatly raw chicken backs and beef off cuts etc, that i get for free. Also a good quality ruff n ready dry mixed with house scraps twice a week, also throw some eggs in too.
  20. Took my missus and son on sunday.Thought it was pretty good, seemed a lot bigger than the welsh game fair, but the welsh is always a good laugh. At least we picked the right day and it stayed dry all the time we we there! Pherhaps may bump into a few of you at the welsh??!

    youre job

Im a Gamekeeper.Been doing it now for 13 years.Sometimes great job, sometimes fookin shite!!BUT i wouldn't change it.No boss on my case every day, nice house, lots of land, loads of kennells, vehicle, and working in the beautiful countryside every single day. There are downsides mind, very unsociable long hours, low pay, stress, etc, and even when i get really pissed off when birds are dying or shoot days are not going to plan,i just think of how lucky i am,doing what i do.
  22. Hi mate, has she been stock broken? And whats she like with terriers etc? Quiet in kennel? Cheers.Ps where in south wales are you? Im near brynmawr.
