Genuine question, how come they can trace back to let's say the 1600s,how did they get the dna?

They don't lol, these tests don't just look at your DNA do they, they have access to all the genealogical records as well you know?

So, think about it, if your DNA matches with someone and their family tree goes back to the 1600's or whenever, this suggests that the person is one of your ancestors also.

16 dogs mate...3 runs to get to final.....so 4 runs for the finalists knocked out some top coursing dogs....including splodge who himself was a Forly cup winner....

Put that in your Akita and smoke it...lol

The Akita would have gotten to the quarters against  those dogs FFS. Lol

Not wishing to derail your thread mush but here’s an alternative I was told many years ago is that it’s a load of made up bollox   A   the first people to join in there was no data base so the results were a lie B I know of twins that have had different results and C all these ancestry company’s are harvesting your DNA for the next phase which will cost your next generation money and health actually surprised the oracle scotty hasn’t warned you all before lol

    A) Certainly isn't the true

    B) Each individual has their own unique DNA, no suprise there.

    C) Conspiracy theories everywhere

Where is the evidence to show Lucy was an ancestor of ours?

Lucy like all these other "ancestors" of ours deceptive,an outright lies, like Piltdown man another evo whopper lol

Lucy in fact was 3foot tall an a male, not female, they found only 30% of the skeleton,so 70% missing,no feet bones at all.

The guy that found it Johansen said its hips were chimpanze, but some ejit later down the line plaster cast its hips,an added back parts that were "broken" to make it more human like.

Seagull for as much as you make out you know on here I'm surprised you haven't done your research into this mate

You are just showing how little you understand Francie.

What evidence? The fact that her body shows clear signs of being bipedal, a hallmark of hominins, human ancestors. The fact that footprints dated over 3 million years old, around the time she was around, show bipedal walking.

Her teeth have less pronounced canines, more human like than chimp like.

So what if 30-40% of her skeleton was found, that still makes her one of the most compete ancient hominins ever found and it still contained crucial body parts that are essential for studying posture and movement.

There was no cover up, they just had reconstruction issues, the final peer reviewed analysis showed a human like pelvis suited to upright walking.

Lucy was classed as a female because of her pelvic bone shape and size comparison with others of her same species, so no, chances are she wasn't male.

Back to science class for you mate.

No i just wonder how sad a life a man has when he has to do what you do on here just to try to be someone on a internet forum that is well past it's best by date, i did forget it was you pleb ,but should have known really just asking myself what fuckwit on here would do such a thing...

You mush be even sadder to obsess over a complete stranger on the internet, and you've been on here much longer than me you full blown sad case. I don't try to be anyone, but unlike you, I'll never be a wrong un in real life.

She was a small monkey mate, nothing more nothing less

Which has been pointed out to you, shares a common ancestor. Obviously we can't say for certain if she is a direct ancestor to us or a side branch that ended up at a dead end, but that still doesn't change the fact that her species shared a common ancestor with us.

Isn’t it where the female line of DNA you were on about comes from ?

”Lucy “ is at least physical remains, “Eve” isn’t .

Im not a geneticist or palaeontologist, but I find this an interesting conversation.

    Cheers.

No mate, her remains are way too old to extract DNA, Lucy is over 3 million years old.

No mate, that's a different thing altogether mate, Lucy is the one of the oldest discovered humans, not homosapien though.

I get ya. There's DNA today that can be traced to Eve not that necessarily everyone today is directly related to Eve. Still definitely some out crossing imo, only way to explain the different types of humans.....Im not using that as a superiority bull shit just that at the same time at some stage different human like species definitely interbred in different parts of the planet and them hybrids were eventually morphed into the people we are today.

No, we all are mate, but it doesn't mean we got all our DNA from just her, remember it's just tracing the mitochondrial DNA, some of those branches were broken because the woman lineage ended, but the woman may have had a son.

  10. To get a better grasp, imagine your family tree with millions of branches, it's like highlighting the branches that strictly go from mother to daughter. Every time a woman had no daughter or her daughters line ended, that branch is gone. After enough generations there would only be one remaining branch left that stays connected to everyone alive today. The person left at the root is Mitochondrial Eve.

I get ya. I thought it meant everyone on the planet was related to Eve.

We are mate, but it's just a theory, what she is, is the most recent common ancestor to us all on the maternal line. Mitochondrial DNA is only passed on through mother to daughter and so on, etc. So when we trace this one single line back in time though mother's only, you eventually reach one woman from whom everyone alive today inherited their DNA.

My only issue with that is the idea of interbreeding. Evolution decided too much interbreeding will finish any species but we all descendants from one female?? But I think there must have been our crosses along the way.

I don't think it means that, it doesn't mean that we all descend from just the one woman, Mitochondrial Eve isn't the only ancestor of modern humans, she's just the most recent common ancestor of everyone's maternal line. All the other people of that time also passed their genes, just not unbroken on the maternal side. It's basically a theory which traces the most recent unbroken maternal ancestor.

Science is evolving all the time so is our story. I don't believe we're all descendants of one small tribe because that would inevitably lead to inbreeding which would mean extinction. I buy more into the different human type evolving and interbreeding in different parts of the world and leading to a dominant but varied genetic gene pool.

That's what the latest genetics suggest though mate, all the humans of non African descent come from a relatively small population of perhaps only a few thousand. But, this wasn't the only time they migrated out of Africa, ghost populations have been discovered that are not closely genetically related to us, now imagine that, extinct lineages of modern humans that died out before the last out of Africa expansion.

  15. 1 minute ago, harryshounds said:

Sure at one time they think now at least 5 human like species existed on the planet. Until proven otherwise the general excepted theory is modern humans are the number one species for about 100,000 yrs.

Yep, and we interbred with them which makes it all the more fascinating.
