  1. Cheers mate and I know most frustrating thing going. Hopefully he gets used to it
  2. Cheers lads will try going back out with the lamp and a dummy and letting him go when there’s nothing there and come back. The retrieving and finding isn’t the problem. Will just wait till he’s abit more mature and maybe let him have a good run off the lead before I go out to get rid of some frustration. He’s never yapped when other dogs run. He just uses his nose, even off the lead he doesn’t go far away although I always keep him on the slip when lamping just as soon as he looses sight and puts his head down. I used chunks of cheese to teach him to come back in the day, he comes back at nigh
  3. Cheers, I’m meant to be taking him out with my friends ferrets at some point. Iv been doing exactly that just taking him out in the day but he’s spot on in the day time. Just going to give him more time because your probably right and Iv tried him too early.
  4. Yeah mate Iv done that that’s why I thought he was ready he’s even retrieved a dead rabbit. I just take him to a field over the road where there’s no rabbits. I Will try it with just the lamp, that might be a good idea. so he gets used to there not always being something to pick up. Maybe he’s that used to the dummy that he thinks he has to bring something back.
  5. Iv got a kelpie bull greyhound he’s 11 months old done all the training with him and thought he was ready to start lamping. I took him out to watch a few times end of last season and took him to watch again more recent before letting him off. His recall is normally spot on even in the day time if he is chasing a rabbit and I call him back he comes back. But when I take him out lamping as soon as he misses the rabbit his nose goes straight to the ground and there is no getting him back. Been told it’s called hunting up. Any ideas to fix it? Iv been told it might be the kelpie in him as they can
