  1. I have an opportunity to buy one of these in .177. Does anybody have any experience or opinions they'd like to share? The gun in question is part of a deceased estate and hasn't been used for a while. It is missing the end cap and magazine and I'm not sure Armex still provides spares for these. Also interested in thoughts on a reasonable price. cheers
  2. Certainly better than 1 all.....
  3. Good read, but some of the facts are a bit different. The pigeons being shot came from the property they were shooting on. Also I wasn't worried about how close to the road they were. I'm pretty sure they had a hide in the hedge as the report was quite loud. What concerned me was they shot over the road, and a fairly well used road at that, not a narrow lane. Dual lanes in fact.
  4. Right, I haven't been back on this thread because I've been out for the evening and I only have 22 posts because I've only been a member for a short time. Second, because I question something that I think is dangerous and not strictly in accordance with the law at a time when shooting in general is coming under increased scrutiny does not make me an anti. It makes me concerned and willing to ask the question of a forum containing like-minded people. Third, the pigeon was hit above the highway - witnessed by myself and my wife. No question about it. They obviously followed it over the hedge and
  5. No, I don't know who owns it. It might be the owners shooting from the hedge along the roadside...in which case they'll probably tell me to sling my hook. Still, they are endangering a lot of unseen people through some fairly basic mistakes. Police report or not? Adverse attention or not?
  6. Walking home past some fields where someone is obviously pigeon shooting on the other side of the hedge. Two shot birds sitting on the road. As we passed by two shots rang out and a bird above our head and clearly above the road takes a hit. I yelled at the unseen shooters to stop shooting over the road. No response and a few minutes later more shots ring out. In two minds about what to do. They clearly SHOULDN'T be shooting at birds flying over the road. They also should make sure the trajectory of shot birds doesn't take them onto a road. What if the birds had hit a car, bike or wa
  7. I'd be very interested in seeing photos of your set up. I had access to many kgs of lead last year and was even gifted a home-made shot maker, but I think I was getting the temp wrong and the shot was all tear drop shaped. Ended up melting the lead (scrap flashing from a demolition) into ingots and selling it on eBay. If I could make shot I definitely would. Doesn't make much sense for 12 g, but the wife wants to shoot 20g and maybe even 410 so it would be worthwhile then. As you say, good lead is hard to come by. I'll hold on to any that comes my way from now on though as I should g
  8. Of course, the best place to live in the UK is in the South East - about 10,000 miles to the SE, but the SE nonetheless....
  9. A stock photo image of the Teign - to justify my confusion.....
  10. Close enough....The two look very much alike. All that mud I expect. Are you a Plymouth local?
  11. Brilliant. I'll check back in with them next time I'm in town. Does sound very simple. Now watch someone stuff it up..... Thanks again. Brad C
  12. Urgghhh! I wish this was straightforward..... I've sent a question to the butcher concerned and also to a localish game dealer. There is so much conflicting opinion and advice. Perhaps I'll stick with donating everything to the bird of prey centre and zoo. Thanks for keeping me honest on this.
  13. OK, so I checked with my butcher today and they will take them as long as they are fully prepared. They aren't permitted to do any butchering of game on their premises. So I'll just squeeze gut, skin, remove head and limbs and wash them. Check the liver and then deliver - see how clever that was. Not much money in them although they reckon some older folk will really go for them so demand might pick up. I'm going to swap them for some dog food and other bits and pieces.
