This weather needs to sort itself out, rained for days then 16 degrees today the birds don’t know what’s going on, the cocks are out on the rides fighting and younger birds are heading out far and wide

i’m seeing a lot of tree rats around the feeders now the natural feed is disappearing, so the little.22 got an outing and I managed 5 of the buggers,

it’s taking longer to complete my rounds now as I’m feeding right throughout the shoot, even feeding well away from the main drives, trying to create some smaller fill in drives by drawing a few birds in ?

Still 16* now.  Just driven past your area, surprised there any birds left, deer and pheasants splattered all over Rd from Helmsley to thirsk ?

be a steady drive home down suiside lane later.

I used to have a vine in a greenhouse in a house I had years ago . My father -in - law , who is a really rough old paddy wanted the grapes to make wine out of  .  I didn’t want them so he took them and made some  “ wine “ . He proudly came around with his first vintage bottle , and eagerly poured me a glass and was looking straight in my eye for approval and validation . It was all I could do to not squint as it was really horrible and vinegar like . I’m no wine expert , but I knew it was “ Shit wine “ .
Now I’m not one to speak I’ll of the dead , but my wife’s dad was someone who probably only had a bath maybe once a week . He couldn’t believe that there were people who shower every day . So when he told me that he’d crushed the grapes in an old plastering bucket with his feet , I felt that feeling before you are sick when your mouth starts to water and you start to swallow , and you can feel your stomach is rejecting what you’ve just put in it .
“ so , what you tink of da whine “ ? “ Oi tink oim ganna do some more next year “.

Ffs? recon I’d of barrfed ?

I’ve worked with a few old school paddy’s who use to kip in the vans and spend the digs money on booze!

can’t stand wine or Champaign.. did my last wedding toasts with a bottle of becks!

    very civilised us Yorkshire folk

Si, no disrespect but that's like my 222 performance of yester year.

I'm not criticizing you at all but I'm seeing this trend by powder manufacturers of throttling back so to speak. Not that it really matters, it will after all still work. Just sayin...

that was when I first started loading, was pretty reserved back then!

my .204 loading started with max load fired into a bank with me not looking at the gun just in case it blew up, all looked fine with case and bolt lift so settled on a few gr over top.. me 6.5’s are all above book max too?

Had a 223 years ago. But just use my hmr and 243 for everything for the last ten years or so. But bought a 223again this week so now need to develop a load for it. Only reason being is noise and I want to leave my drone on it permanently.

Luckily I have stocked up on bullets for 243. Just need to try and sort a round for 223. Mates got some 53gn vmax to try first

This was my mix for a 1-12 .223

worked well with these and nosler 55gn ballistic tips.. Both clovered at 100

I’ve had a .204 / Tax .20 itch for a while. But after speaking to Steve I think that a .20prac is the way to go for me .
The 6.5 creedmore is an awesome round , but I know I’m just a point and shoot guy ?

not sure what the difference is between the 20's.. I know one of them uses a fair bit less powder!

as for point and shoot its a good round, that said dont think ive ever shot anything passed 300yard with any gun.. im happy with an old duplex on me 6,5x55 easy to judge out to 300 not interested at all the clicks up and windage stuff

Let us know you get on with reloading for  the 204 . I’m in the process of building a practical  .2O with Steve Bowers . Using my old .223 as the donor .

its a doddle to load for sl, I dont go to wild and will let the loads slip +or- 1/2 grain and when I check the zero on a new batch there more or less bang on to the point I dont re zero.. the 39gn Sierra I loaded are same poi as the 32's I load as well not that ive ever shot a fox with them as the 32gn nosler just work well.. every load ive done will clover at 100yard no problem and that's just going to loading manuals.

I only picked up the vmax as I was running low but Marcus has got some more nosler back in now.

my foxing mate is always trying to get me to flog him the .204 cos he recons its quiet, theres no recoil what so ever but I wouldn't say its quiet but that said he uses a 243 for everything

Can’t beat your own loads mate . Bit of an expense getting set up but , cheaper and better performance. I don’t know about you but I find it relaxing. Word to the wise bumpy but stock up a bit because all the ammo companies are at full capacity doing military stuff . So nothing coming in this country for a long time . Pretty much what is in the country is all we have got for a year or two .

Your deed for the day is done, you managed to spur me on to knocking a few fox droppers up?

thought sod it so I’m doing a 20 batch of new brass  as well and having a go with the 32gr vmax.. the 40gn factory stuff was accurate but splashed a few, want to see how home grown works!

The x-terminator worked well in the .223 so hopefully it’ll be good in .204, it’s cheaper than reloaded and throws better!

  14. I need to do a couple of batches too, did 50 in the last batch down to the last 5…got some new brass that I’ve had for ages but this  fiochi  brass that I got given lasts ages, think I’ve used them bout 8 times already and still lookin good!
been thinking about using the 6.5 for everything for a while as I got given a load of stuff off a mate who changed cal. and I like the big boom and thump it kicks out?

Thing, with me, mate. I do it out of respect for the lads who bother to offer some insight. Shows I haven't just asked, just to get my post count up. And then, I've considered and acted on the advice offered ;)

I'm cool as fukk, like that 8)

Sharpens a new axe other day with 4” grinder with a 40 grit like yours above took two mins to get a good edge on it.. but if your after a bench grinder I got a b&q special bout 20 year ago, it’s had loads of pain and still going strong, looks exactly same as ones there sellin now for £37 just different brand
