  1. Still not a very good photo, but you can still see it. Now stained, and drying out. Better photo when its finished
  2. Best to phone Le Prevo and explain what your making, and they will help you.
  3. I was asked again for the link for Le Prevo http://www.leprevo.co.uk/
  4. Oil or wax the blade, then wrap the knife in clingfilm. Soak the sheath without the knife in it, for a few minutes. Then put the knife in the soaked sheath, and using a teaspoon, press around the shape of the handle, pushing the leather into shape. Leave the knife in, and put somewhere warm and dry, like an airing cupboard ( Not on a radiator ) for 24 hours. Remove the knife, and as the leather is still damp, stain it now and put ( just the sheath ) back in the cupboard to dry for another 3 or 4 days.
  5. Its not a very clear photo from my phone, but trying for a good fit, before soaking and moulding.
  6. Waiting to hear back from you.
  7. Very Sorry but this show is cancelled. Reply from Gill Gillian BettsNorth East Ferret Rescue I feel I have no choice but to cancel the show on Sunday in light of the recent reports of distemper around the country. If it had been a couple of weeks later we could have had time to see how things panned out but it is so close timewise I feel its not fair to take the risk and need to make a decision in enough time for everyone to be informed. I am hoping to reschedule in March, will check the availability of the hall, and let you know as soon as I've sorted it. If its ok with everyone who ha
  8. Good photo and dog. Most dogs at the shows are worked but there are a lot of pricks on the internet, who'd never know a good dog.
  9. Oops, forgot the instructions Its just the marking out of the welt, but the use of the safety beveller. Only that one edge shown is trimmed down (tapered), so its a nice fit when the sheath is folded. The beveller is used the same on the visible end of the belt loop. Ready for stitching. The knife is by Smallholder1 off this site. Another great knifemaker
  10. Looking for a 410 shotgun. North East Area PM me Thanks
  11. I've always thought of these as perfect rabbit dogs.
  12. Another set my mate has done. His leather work is as much an art as his knives.
  13. Deerhound/Greyhound X Deerhound/Greyhound/Collie/Greyhound Pups Cramlington area. 4 pups left,- about 10days old. PM me if interested
  14. Look at some Black Palmira,- very nice and great for handles.
  15. Steve66 The stamped sheaths are made by my mate, we don't use patterns,- just wrap a bit of leather around the knife to get an idea of the length of leather needed, remembering you have the welt to go in (prevents the knife cutting the thread)
  16. Note,- the tin of footware protector, is for spraying the inside of the sheath to waterproof it. A tin of wax is shown but i've never used it, as shoe polish or dubbin is just as good on the outside. Le Prevo do good sized off cuts at a reasonable price.
  17. This plain one on the belt i did with just a adjustable groover. 3mm veg tanned leather
  18. My mate and i use a small dremil type drill for making the stitch holes, but a needle type as shown is just as good but longer time. A sheath can be made in a day but will take about a week to dry when soaked and moulded then dyed and polished My mate bought some stamps also and this is with the same basic tools. From Le Prevo in Newcastle
  19. Its possible to spend heavily over the top for items you really don't need. This is the basics that will make good sheaths . Safety beveller, adjustable groover. Craft knife, large darning needles, thread and a block of beeswax for pulling the thead through prior to sewing. wax not shown but from flytying shop or i got mine from my local dive center for £2. Dyes etc from the local cobblers, and shoe polish
