well done to all that entered, well done to all that organised or helped and well done to the winners !! -
my first dog was a JRT bitch called susie after my brandads JRT bitch both were the most anti social dogs ever ................ susie 2 never really worked apart from the odd bit of feretting and ratting both were truly great pets, fiercely loyal, and lived to 17 and 18 yr old they are what made me love terriers, i have not had one since, i have a cocker at the moment, but when the time is right i will definatlely be getting one ............... could o with one for the rats at the moment !!!!

right then guys thats a couple of nights without any catches in any of the traps and without any of them being trip, i backfilled the entry points under the coop earlier in the week so i could see where any new runs were, but nothing this week ........................ would the fact that i have had 3 in the fenns and 1 in the cage trap have made the others (if there are any which i am sure there are) wary are they likely to stay away for a few nights until they get hungry and then maybe come back again ? i have not baited any of the traps but am thinking that i might do as suggested a

it is included in some of the layers pellets, whether theres enough or not i am no expert but from my point of view my hens are producing nice eggs with good shells and have been for all the time i have had them, 2 were bought as day old chicks and they are laying well too..........................all i do is feed them layers pellets, let them have a scrat around the garden as and when probably 50% of the time, and also throw a handful or two of calcium / grit bought from countrywide into the runs every few weeks....................seems to do the trick.

welcome -
well i have had two more, one in the fenn and one in the live trap thought the dog was going to chew its way through the live trap this morning trying to get at it another littleun took the pic about 8pm last night one much bigger rat caught in the live trap last night one thing that worries me now is that i have picked off 4 in the last couple of days, maybe there is more of a problem than i first thought, especially considering that 3 of the 4 have been littleuns

cheers to everyone that has replied to this thread so far, i think its a good example of how useful a resource a forum can be. Having made a couple of mistakes on setting the traps, ie - wrong way and incorrect baiting i have just come in from resetting the 5 Fenns the right way round and with a bit of bait on the right side of the trap so the rats actually have to cross the trap to get to it because the traps are going to be down pretty much 24/7 from now i have also spent a bit of time making sure the traps are set nicely into the ground with plenty of space for them to spring without ca

a busy night of filing and resetting tonight for me, this trapping lark is a bit of 'fun' to be fair, although it was shock this morning it was quite satisfying to find a couple in the (what i now know wrongly) set traps !!! the other option was to sit out with the air rifle for a few hours..........but where the runs are and the rats are coming from makes that a impossible option
-
right then i take it the traps need to be at 90 degrees to the run, i will get em swapped tonight i wont bother baiting them anymore then like the 'tuning' idea, i was thinking last night that the plates could do with being a touch higher, does anyone peg the traps down there is a chain attached but i haven't pegged them into the ground ? fingers crossed over the next few weeks i should get a few more

I keep a few hens at the bottom of the garden and recently there has been a huge increase in the number of entry points under the coop. There used to be 1 or 2 now there is probably 7 or 8 entry points under the coop from 3 runs. The runs come from right under 2 big holly bushes so are pretty inaccessable. I decided it was time to get hold of some fenn traps, ordered them from north east fieldsports, arrived in good time and i have left them outside for a few weeks to 'weather'. I had some plywood tunnels made up at work and yesterday evening decided to set the traps. I set 4 tunnel traps

funny thing that i seem to sell quite a few orders under 50 and the tealers are only sold seperately when asked for by the client the cost of materials has rocketed and accordingly we have to increase our prices to suit but we still strive to give the best product available a min order of ten peg wires is what i work to add to this the cost of postage it makes sense to order a few and save on postage i had less than 50, great snares well made, wont go far wrong with woodga's

Purse netting without ferrets
meinnotts replied to camies's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
i hope this isn't a wind up because if it is i have been had, but i would love to know if this works before i go out and stock up on smoke bombs, there is no chance of me having ferrets this could be a actual alternative ???? -
