  4. i have had a call this morning from one of my permissions that i have not been to for a while its only 8 acres of orchard and the guy likes me just to 'control' the rabbits which suits me fine he now has a in his words ''big problem with moles, and they are getting very close to the lawn'' i have read a few posts on here there are a few types of traps..............anyone car to offer any advice on where to start ???? also i have seen some pics of moles which appear to have been caught by dogs, can this be done and if so how ????
  5. i am not saying don't shoot the b*gger, i am not saying that i agree with shooting it either that is a different discussion what i am saying is don't post a pic of it, its just the ammunition that some people want
  6. stay downwind its movement and not necessarily sound that puts them off - so drab clothes / camo (thats not to say you go yomping around shouting) use any cover available sit tight if they bolt they will come back out most importantly don't be put off, be patient, keep getting out and you will learn, no ammount of tips / help can compensate for experience
  7. thats just old fashioned nonsense , the only real problem with new snares is that they are more visible, to any prowler , but once they weather , and set well out they are extremely hard to see. i set out 100 brand new pegged snares . one morning and had rabbits the following morning. woodga set a hundred out not so long ago and took a good few in the evening just before dark , then took a kill in the morning , the overall total between evening and morning was nearly a hundred rabbits , all from new shiny brass snares. cheers snareman
  8. cheers alimac, just found the thread after a fair bit of searching no need to weather them then
  9. get yourself down to your nearest gun shop and shoulder a few, its not until you knoe how they feel that you can make a decision you should be able to get a decent gun for the money you are talking

  13. i have a range at the bottom of the garden ste up with a backstop etc, i try and pick up / sweep up most of the pellets i use but a fair few end up knocking around the bottom end of the garden near and in the veg patch this also is an area that my hens free range in when i have finished the veg to scratch it up / fertilise it it occured to me this might be a problem anyone know if lead poisoning of the ground or the hens could occur ????
  14. just thought smaring is not really a option, we have a cat, my wife would literally kill me if i snared our moggy and i am sure she uses that run, live trap it maybe then i was hoping a quick fix deterant would have done the trick
