We've all done things..ok..time to confess some of them..have you ever wreaked revenge on anyone... Ok..i'll tell some of mine to cleanse my soul.. I had a boss (Vet) who was a real we used to put the most hideous things in his coffee and make errrr...'special' muffins..with err...extras in them! Also my Mother-in-law was a right cow, she was the most sharp tongued, evil woman to ever walk the earth, i used to go to their loo and clean it with their toothbrushes!!! I used to think of her in there the next morning scrubbing her teeth and get a weird sense of satisfaction! My

I've met Eddie and his Russels and i think he's a guy with a hell of a lot of experience, i know of several people who work their Russels from him, equally i know people who show some of his stock..Mr1..you seem to just want to pick an argument on EVERY subject..its pretty waring after a while..clearly there is no one else that knows and works dogs quite like you can..so i to your great status! I was brought up being told that if you dont have anything nice to say...keep your mouth closed..my mother is a wise woman!

I feed part raw and part dry food..seems to work well. I also have a Beddy x Whippet pup - 9w old..do you have any pics of yours?
-
Awww, he looks a topper..is he smooth coated?
-
Aahh..did the Vet not give you some idea of the length of time for healing..its generally at least 6w for a crack..is the dog being completely rested just now?

We work with all the insurance companies, out of them all Pet Plan usually always pay out..DBI are pretty good, the supermarket ones are ok..although they do tend to quibble a fair bit about minor things..E&L are useless and we always have problems trying to get a claim out of them..you have to be careful not to mention the word 'Lurcher' as often the premium will shoot up or they wont cover you..also anything with Beddy in it can be viewed as being a liabiltiy due to the copper problem in the breed..much easier just to say 'crossbreed' - as long as that's what it says on the Vets record t

Molly..the liquid part of the vaccine is always Lepto..this is given yearly..it can be given on its own..the powdered part of the vaccine is the Dhppi - when it is given it is always mixed with the liquid (lepto) i'm not aware that a booster can be given without Lepto being a bpart of it. The problem with the Kennel Cough Vaccine is that is only protects the dogs against the worst strain of Kennel Cough - Bordatella - there are so many strains out there that its impossible to vaccinate against them all..the new KC vaccine in its current form now works within 3 days of administration and last f

Is it a crack in the skin? There are a lot of grass seeds getting into feet just now, is it a puncture hole or a cut..can you take a pic and post it up?
-
Aah...sorry i thought he meant differently. How do you Booster without Lepto though..its the liquid that mixes with the Dhppi part?
-
Lepto is not a farce..we have seen several dogs who have had Lepto..and its no joke. We cant buy dog vaccines in the UK like you can in Ireland..lots of show people buy in vaccines from Southern Ireland to use on their dogs though.

The more people that dont vaccinate the higher the chances that we will start to see Distemper and Parvo raise its head again..puppies generally dont survive these diseases, mainly adults equally struggle, death is painful and in some cases slow..i've seen dogs die from diseases that they should have been vaccinated against..i wouldnt recommend it. The veggie brigade think that 'vaccinating' pups with homeopathic sh1t will protect them..NONSENSE! Up until 8w of age pups have a high level of immunity from their mother. At 12w these pups are at risk.

Death by chocolate is the way to go..melted caramel through it.....oooooooooooooooo :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Thanks guys..hands up..i've been doing the wrong things..i think the more i saw this fiery side the more i thought i would expose him to more and more things in the hope of stopping the fiery behaviour..i can see now having read these posts that all i have done is increased his fear of a situation and made him more defensive. Well, you live and learn..it just goes to show that you should never get cocky and think you know it all....EVERY pup is different. He isnt a bad pup..i know that..but i have been pushing him into situation where he has to react then getting worried when he does. He love

Why are some people so down on working Borders?
-
Maybe i explained this badly, his eyes arent wonky, they just are dilated when he gets into this state..reading several of the posts above made me realise that i have been trying to do too much too soon with this little lad and that his reactions are probably more down to me than to him..this forum is invaluable with the help it gives..thanks a million guys..you made me realise that i have just been far too impatient with this pup.
-
Skycat thanks for that..i should clarify, when i say 'strange' dogs, i mean dogs that are owned by people i work with (Vets) they are all larger dogs, vaccinated and friendly, but i totally take your point that to him this is maybe a bit too early and its scary for him. I dont think he had seen very much of anything until he came here, just his mum and the inside of a kennel, and its possibly been much more stressful for him that i had realised. Also, thinking about it, we have 6 adult dogs here which he has had to get used to..its possibly my fault that he is having to be defensive for puttin

Aww thanks for that Gaz, its a huge relief to read your post..i have been scruffing him and then releasing him and praising him if he stops growling..its amazing just how fierce an 8w old pup can look! I'm not making excuses for his behavior tonight, but i do wonder if he was a bit over-tired..he had been out in the garden for most of the day with the other dogs, it was warm and he slept and ran around with them, i maybe should have brought him in at some stage in the day and let him sleep in his cage where he wouldnt be disturbed? One quick question, when he meets larger dogs that are trying

Isnt it just? Where abouts in Scotland are they? Could i find one when i was looking..like three legged chickens they were! He is such a nice pup in some many ways, VERY clever and switched on for his age, i just dont like this fieryness that he is displaying, he is a VERY determined pup and its taken a good week for him to respect the other dogs, he has been nailed several times and is now beginning to take heed..thank goodness...i am just hoping that this will all calm down..i was worried incase there was something badly wrong with him.
-
I'm worried that he has a 'bad' streak through him..he is first and foremost going to be a family dog..its the dilated eyes and the snarling and snapping in one so young that's quite scary..is pinning him and really telling him off the best way ahead? Also, when he meets larger dogs, should i allow him to snarl/snap if they paw at him..or should i step in and stop it?
-
We have an 8w old Beddy x Whippet, first cross, he is a nice pup but i am a bit concerned about his fiery behaviour..he throws real tantrums when he doesnt get his own way..his eyes dilate and he snarls and snaps, i thought we had got past this after the first couple of days, but tonight he has done it again several times. He mixes well with all my adult dogs, but with dogs he has met he can be snarly and snappy if they try to paw at him, now, to a degree i can understand he is possibly afraid and wants to defend himself, but he keeps going back for another go. I have two kids and although thi

Is she smooth then? I think this one is going to have quite a full coat..he started off black as anything but everyday seems to turn more silvery.
-
He was bred by a guy near Darlington..Mum was a 16" Beddy and Dad a 21" Whippet.
-
He is growing fast..probably due to eating us out of house and home..he is changing colour from black to silver quite rapidly now and loves running around hanging off all of the adult dogs..!
-
Yet again our wonderul criminal justice has let us down...he is free to live as he wants with no thought to his victims or anyone else he may affect..i have two daughters and i HATE living anywhere near this man..he makes me feel physically sick..sorry..but no amount of rehabilitation works with these people..they should be hung.

We live in a quiet road at the edge of a village, we only have a few houses near us but right across the road is a guy who is on the sex offenders register who has been released after making videos of himself and little girls - aged 3-10y..the Police say that local kids are not at risk as he made these videos abroad (arent little girls little girls regardless of their nationality???) - he makes me SICK..i swear to God, if i could run him over, i'd reverse back over him again to make sure i'd done a good job..i cant put into words how i feel about this man..there he is swanning around and enjoy
