Recommended Posts

Pete where i have been trapping mole's up on the fell land i have seen several Wheatear's in the area and what i think was a blackcap flew out of a dry stone wall when i stopped the quad to open a gate..but could i hell find the nest..

Back to the topic title Rex i fear you will be hard pressed to get a viable adult Goldie at this time of the year..

Millet; That's some shots of those Wheaties! Strikingly gorgeous birds though, aren't they?

I don't know when they're due here. Hope they come back. Though, I'm virtually counting the birds which are simply vanishing with each passing year here!

Stonechats used to nest up the track. Don't see them now. Barely see a Meadow Pipit this year. Snipe are disappearing. We've just about had it officially confirmed that the Curlew is f**ked, as a breeding bird.

Oh, f**k me! Did you spot it? Look at that list. All ground nesters! And we have badgers coming out of our f**king ears! :icon_eek:

That's it then. We're f**ked :cray:

Wonder what that was that came out of that wall? Certainly wouldn't have imagined a Blackcap being in a wall.

The sooner the cull is brought in on the badger's..all the better it will be for all ground nesting bird's..them Martin's won't help either i would imagine..

I'm not 100% what bird it was that came from the wall as it landed around 25yrd's away and it was hard to make the colouring out..it was around about the size of a redstart and same shape..with a dark grey body and a darker coloured head.. :hmm:

I have just done some google images and it could well of been a black redstart..if i had my camera with me i would of been able to make the colour out exactly..but we will never know.. :D

I like the sound of that better ;) Pity you never registered if it was flicking its tail. They do that.

I've just been for a nice depressing walk. Absolutely nothing out there. It's like bloody Silent Spring :(
