Guest sniperâ„¢
well...as a new lad i thaught i should but up a decent post as one of my firts...so ...i went out this morning with the air rifle and the last of the pellets (5 left) just for a quick walk about but this soon turned into 4 hours, i got to my local shooting place and to my suprise there was feck all about i must have seen about four rabbits in 10 minutes were its normaly 40.. , i thaught "what the f*ck is going on here...i havent hammered this many" but after the firts 10 - 15 minutes i spotted this rabbit that was looking directly at me i was thinking "this ones going to bolt any second now..." how wrong was i ... took the shot and scored my first kill of the morning .... a shot to the neck at 25 yards.... so after doing the business i caried on mooching about keeping an open eye didnt see nothing then for a good half hour... lady luck then change to my direction again....another plump buck squatting munching some grass....i got behind a bush poped me head up and took the shot...unfortunatly i missed this one....so on again i go for a mooch with only 3 pelets left in my pocket reloaded and carried on....i then noticed my shadow so i got into some shade and stalked about again for yet another 30 minutes....so i thuaght "bugger this im havin a fag" so i then sat down for another 20 -30 minutes smoking away lookin at little song birds enjoying the countryside and the warm weather, i then got up on my feet and set off again....so im walking down a little pathway where i saw yet another rabbit, pulled up the gun and just took the shot quickly again...i missed....so reloaded and off i go again...about 5 minutes after that shot a 1/2 grown buck was stood up tall so i pulled up the gun and took my time....i gently squeezed the trigger ...again a score to the neck at about 15 - 20 yards..... i walked round again for about 15 - 20 minutes just to let things calm down some ...and went back through that little pathway....the rabbit i had shot at didnt come back....so i moved on.....and behind this little tump this real nice buck was loking at me from about 10 - 12 yards.....i had the gun on my back and was loking this rabbit dead in the eye.... again thinking to myself " jesus if i move now hesdefinatly going to bolt" so i moved so damn slow....it took me a good 5 minutes to get the gun off my back and up to my eye....dropped the magifacation down to 3 and let the pellet go.....another score to the neck....so now that all my pellets had gone i had nothing else to than go home.... a good mornings outing and three to show for it.... Guest sniperâ„¢
yea i find that neck shots work realy well .... these three i shot were low down in knee high grass feeding.....so i thuaght insted of missing completly or making a right f*ck up of the shot id use an alternative and as you ca tell...neck sots work quite well.....but i do take head shots.....but mostly in the winter time where grass is lower and visability is better.... cheers... Y.I.S Sniperâ„¢ P.S.....this one i shot back in april/may where the gras was low..... Quote Link to post
king 12,038
well done sniper. if u see the rabbits in long grass tap your boots together once. sometimes they stand up to have a look around and u can take a nice head shot. i've done it a few times but it dont work all the time Quote Link to post
