byron 1,279
a mate of mine who,s a keeper in norfolk came over a few weeks back. and the talk turned to deer [plenty on his estate] he was telling me the reds on there are as big/bigger at a year old, than scottish ones. now i have no need to dispute this [what do i no] but like he says the food situation is better in norfolk than scotland. what do you lads think on this... thanks byron... Simoman 110
Yes I have heard the English reds grow a great deal bigger than there northern relatives and you would imagine Scottish reds have a harder time than English deer, nice stag byron................ Quote Link to post
flytie 1
I know there are some estates in Scotland that produce stage over 20 stone regularly but not many. Lowland animals do not have such a hard time surviving the winters. Consequently they do grow bigger on average, at least according to everything I have read that has been published by the BDS. ft Quote Link to post

SNAP SHOT 194
Very nice animal, yes lowland deer will always have a greater weight, as food is more plentifull, and not as hard to come by, and may have a greater nutrient value. snap. Quote Link to post
