sp.w 42
I would go and see his vet to make sure the guy is not trying to have you over, if 600 quid is right then the vet is having him over, in that case as your dog caused the injury i would pay 200 pounds.Too many people try and shirk responsibility these days and i think if people don't have honour than really we hav'nt progressed much from apes. Shepp me personally would tell him to fu*k off! :protest: Quote Link to post
Doglost Co-Ordinator 4
If £600 is what he says then he's got no insurance either -otherwise he'd be looking at paying his excess. Also he cannot hold you responsible- if his dog was off lead & didnt return when called his dog is not under control. That applies to any dog - if it doesnt do as requested then its not under control. ITs unfortunate but cannot see how you can be held totally responsible. I like others put mine back on leads when other people or dogs they dont know approach. If I see some one coming the alsation/grey goes back on lead, salukix normally on her unless shes running & labx doesnt move - she is totally trained & will stay at my feet if asked. Get some proper advice but bot dogs off lead- you could say she bit only becaus she felt threatend. Quote Link to post

Attack Fell Terrier 864
Tell him bollocks and that you'll sue him for the mental trauma its caused you dog . Quote Link to post
Toka 10
Can't see any criminal action....if it is a civil calim then it would be small court case and these mediate...with what you have said, his dog was more out of control and he didn't even try to get them parted so that would throw the ball more towards his side. the court will aportion an amount payable to each person.....not too much to worry yourself about.....it also depends on how you want your relationship with your neighbour to go/or how it is now. why a note through the door..you'd think that a neighbour with a genuine claim would want to discuss it with you??!! anyway hope it all get sorted!!
