martindevon 0 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Share Posted March 26, 2009 right then, im pretty new to this site and ive made a few posts but im really after some help. im after a pup but cant get one until mid may coz im away with the raf, i want some help with what x will suit me most. im gonna lamp with it and some daytime work. im moving to the hebrides so the land is gonna be flattish moorland. the type of X dont really matter to me just the wife is dead set againt me havin a bull X as she thinks it will eat the kids or something so i would prefer whippet X grey sort of size, and what sex is best or does it not really matter, you lot are are the experts so please your input would be very much appreciated. skycat 6,174 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Share Posted March 26, 2009 If I was you I definitely wouldn't get a Whip/Grey: your'e far up north there: its bloody cold and you'd be better off with something with a decent coat, a biggish stride and feet as tough as old boots: I reckon a Whip/Grey would shred/damage its feet in no time at all on rough moorland. How about Beardie/Grey or if you want something bigger then add a bit of Deer/Grey? You need brains for it to learn to cope with the terrain: good feet and coat too. Quote Link to post

poacher3161 1,766 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Share Posted March 29, 2009 went up to the orkney's last september crawling with rabbits though weather was fine locals told me come november constant winds hardley any daylight very hard envierement get a dog with a good coat whippet/greyhound type's forget it a presume hebridies is mutch the same tho av never been Quote Link to post
