hi everyone, just wondered if anybodies used drop traps for rabbits. the farmer on my permission wants me to control em through the spring and summer, whilst it goes against the grain ,rabbiting in summer it,s the time that the arable farmers need it most.using traps also gives me the option of releasing the small ones. any advise or helpful tips on this would be muchly apprieciated.. cheers

Dont bother mate ,you dont have the mindset to control rabbits.

Get John B's book and make you're own Drop boxes for about £20.00 each.

Commercial can cost £65+ each.

Best dug in same time as rabbit fencing.

Or make yourself a doz or so of these

J.B.'s book has better plans with some good alternatives.

To go to the trouble and expense of setting up a drop box system then release rabbits is silly, here in Leicestershire we refer to people who do silly things as twats, in hindsight, the word twat, may be a little harsh ,so with your consent ,i will change that abusive foul word to PRAT.

maphunter, its your permission and you do what you want on it . Some farmers say kill em all, and others are happy to have them reduced to acceptable level, yours sounds like the latter. The best ones are the ones who say come when you want and take what you want, the ones that put pressure on all the time can be a pain. The object is in most cases to control, not eradicate, weve all read stories of the old trappers who always made sure they left some for next season. As long as your farmer can see an effort being made, and the rabbits arent swarming, thats the way to go.
