activeviii 8
Is there a cheaper way of sorting this out. I have only just bought a new 5 gun cabinet for my shotguns. now, after a lot of thought, i have decided to apply for a hmr and lr. i need locking cabinet for the bolts and ammo but it cant be kept in my gun cabinet as it has no top locker. can i use one of these digital safes you use for your money and passports. you know the ones that Aldi sell for £25. Im on a tight budget and it will be to tight if i have to change cabinets again. whats the law and how do i do this please. thanks all Phil Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
As long as you bolt it down mate or to a wall i don't think there will be a problem, plus if you could keep it out of sight will be better again... Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
ALL new cabinets must comply with..... Gun Cabinets (BS7558:1992) So..if this "Safe" complies the answer is yes...but I would check carefully!!! Some older gun cabinets do not comply with this latest BS, but most regions will accept the continued use of older cabinets! Quote Link to post

Yes for ammo storage you can use one of these cheap safes perfectly fine. I got mine for about £15 and my FEO had no problems whatsoever granting my FAC for .22LR and .17HMR. The ammo safe I used was a cheaper version of this It looks exactly like the one in the pic below For the guns you'll need a cabinet that complies to (BS7558:1992) which it seems you allready have. I have this Brattonsound 6/7 Deep Rifle Cabinet ATB Quote Link to post
woz 260
a cheap digital safe is exeptable for amo storage, its a myth that bolts have to be stored away from the rifle's..(i prefer to though) if you have a semi auto rifle you cant strip the bolt easily so you dont have the choice.............. activeviii 8
i have the Brattonsound 4/5 Gun Cabinet. the shop i bought it from said that it was the heavier gauge metal so it would comply with the regs. so im hoping the FLO will agree. if i can get a way with a cheap £15 digi safe then that will be grand. i will have a good.....ish read of the homeoffice publication. thanks all Kind regards Phil Quote Link to post
