tikka t3 22.250 remington

Recommended Posts

hi guys what factory ammunition works well in yor tikka t3 22.250 rem ,i normally reload but i am seeking a factory load that delivers accuracy and consistancy what do you recommend,i dont want to have to trawl through them all because they have become very expensive...... :notworthy:

Mate to cut a long story short you won't find a consistantly accurate load from factory rounds, If you do reload then why not stay reloading....?

factory ammo is mass produced and the degree of care taken to finish off each round simply isn't there, you will get variables, such as seating depth, slight inconsistancy in powder charge, etc all lead to inaccurate rounds,

plus what is your defination of accurate, are you happy with 1 inch at 100 yards or do you want it more accurate?

snap.

i do still intend to reload but i was just interested in trying some of the factory alternatives im getting good groupings with my home loaded stuff about 0.75 inch at100yds but wondered if there were factory rounds that could produce this or better

you cant really go on someone elses views for what his own rifle prefers, as yours will most likley be completely diffrent, you would be best to select a few types and differents weights of bullets. Or better still work on your homeloads to acheive tighter groups try new bullets different amounts of powder and different C.O.L's as you will most definately be able to better .75inches at 100yards i have been quite lucky with my .22-250 i called up a guy who knows a damn sight more than i shall ever know, but anyway that aside he gave me a recipe that he uses reguarly and it seems to work well in my rifle and ive never looked back. The best group ive had is the one shown below at the end of my thumb its quite a poor foto but you get the idea, it is a 5 shot group at 0.34inches at 100 yards and as you can see i had a quite a poor time with the HMR it raised my spirits abit when i got the CF out instead

NH - you are almost there with your recipe.

I shoot an R93 and a Rem 700 Tactical both in 22.250. I use the same recipe for both as does a friend with his CZ550

I use Remmington cases, CCI primers, N150 @ 37gr, 55 grVmax and bullets are seated on the ogive at 1.970 which + COL 2.373

Both rifles shoot sub .3 at 100 yds. Picture below of group at 200 yds shot recently measured .572

.75 at 100 yds is really what you would expect from good factory ammo.

cheers dicehorn, could be i am just a wee bit short on the powder load will try upping that a wee bit i think when i do more test loads ,on the loading data i have it said that the max COL is 2.350 i might look at extending that a bit aswell

iv seen primers make a massive differance.....3" group down to sub 1" just on a primer change...they make a much bigger diference than people give them credit for....
