I have got a first cross wheaton greyhound.

He is the most loyal dog iv ever had, Hopeless for lamping due to his nose but good for other stuff.

Very quiet with other dogs infact he all most seems scared but as they say its quiet ones you have to watch....

Good dog suits me well.

Id like to put him over a greyhound bitch one day.

i'm interested in wheatens... hard to come by tho and they cost the earth

Hi mate.

I Don't think they cost the Earth in my opinion,i do believe that good bred working Irish wheatenx are hard to come by,but once you get the right one they are just as good as other crosses that ive seen on toothed quarry.I think the 2nd cross half bred wheaten/Grey would be my first choice for fox control, very strong determined dogs.

my friend had a well bred 2nd cross that was very game but lack speed.but he was very good above an earth, perfect dog for drawing,he would be the perfect fox dog for me if he had an extra yard of pace.saying that he was the heaviest in the litter so i would presume that his brothers and sisters would be able to catch a good January fox.

I do belive that lurchers prices are going through the roof daily.the used to be cheap as chips.no there selling for mega bucks.the 2nd cross i mentioned on an earlier post,my mate bought him for 100 pound.I think that is a fair pirce aswell  hope you find a good line of wheaten lurcher for a decent working mans price bud. Good Luck.

i'll keep lookin and i also agree that around the tonne or a bit over is a fair enough price... i mean, when somebody breeds a litter of pups and slaps on a tag of £250 each then they've obviously bred for profit IMO... in fairness, there is no harm in takin a bit of money for your time and to cover your cost but when you think of it, is there not endless threads on here with big names like hancocks etc gettin slated silly for they're knack at pullin in profit???

i bred a litter of whippet/bull type pups a few years back and they were bred purely to keep a pup for my own use... £40 was the tag on them and there isnt anyone that can say they were reared badly... few of them that i know of made the grade but the mum was a good bitch so if i put a £250 tag on then would that have made them good :) ??? i would guess that the vast majority of 1st crosses have been bred with only one parent tested???
