Hand stripping.

Does anyone hand strip their rough coats? Is it beneficial for the coat or is it best left alone?

Give Thurso Jack a pm he usually starts upstripping out and shampooing classes at this time of year just before the rossette season starts

Cheers MOO but he's no show dog. Was thinking more about doing it for his comfort.

He's lost alot of his rough coat already. Is that usual for it to change so much as he matures? He's only around 12 months.

I started to strip my bitch the other day. I will spend another two or three sessions I use a strippinng knife, it leaves her much more comfortable for the summer and she loves it too. When her coat comes back in the atumn it is good quality and keeps her warm and dry in bad weather.

Cheers bog, I'll start him off. I have a stripping stone which I'll try but do have stripping knives too. Not sure if I'm keeping him now though :icon_redface:

I've just stripped spider out, i do my sisters border twice a year as well. I think its good for the coat and also as mentioned it keeps them cooler in summer. I just use my hands as i find it gets it out more evenly than a knife.

Thanks H, I quite often sit pulling them out anyway so may aswell continue :D
