Squirrel_Basher 17,102
foxdropper all im going to say is I f*kin work hard for every buck I get ...I take it you dont work lurchers in fact I know you dont work lurchers & if I want to dress out a head that is in velvet it is up to me I have probably killed more deer than you will ever dream of killing ...have you not got anything positive to say on this site all you do is pick at every bodys posts ...I t wasnt that long ago you were going on about greyhounds being the best dog for stamina so you do not know it all ...Im going to put a post up tomorrow of a step by step how I dress out heads to show the lads on here that havent done it before some tips but no doubt you will find something wrong with the way I do it :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: Steady on ,think of your blood pressure.I do work lurchers actually and in the past have taken my fair share with the dogs. These days I have to keep within the law ,job wise .I shoot roe as part of a management scheme and no longer hunt indiscriminately killing whatever is in the beam.Ive no objections to anyone doing this as we all have to start somewhere .You must be a proud man to have killed more deer than me .I dont pick at everybodies post ,just those that I feel need picking at ,like you say its up to me!.Ive seen several thousand heads displayed but never in velvet .Still, looks like you did a good job of it.My point ,which you totally missed again and the reason for the nit pick was that the velvet will rot in time no matter what you say.Nothing wrong with the methods mate . GOOD HUNTING ALL. Quote Link to post

ChrisJones 7,975
Does anyone use Dermestes larvae to do the stripping, instead of chemicals? Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
Personally I dont see the point of shooting them in velvet if a trophy is required.Yearling bucks are the only thing I would shoot in velvet and there is no trophy to take.Mik- You missed my point mate -velvet is living tissue .It cannot be left on antlers without it rotting to some extent.Who wants to look at a set of velvet antlers anyway.Leave them on the beast til its shed . Yes mate velvet is living tissue, but a good long soak in meths will have it cured Quote Link to post
