pencoed hunter 7
Thinking of switching to the MK3M. what is better MK3M collar or MK3 normal collar Quote Link to post
dh90 6
Personally i prefer the normal mk3.. no chance of putting a ferret down without it switched on. you do remeber after the first time forgetting but theres bound to be a time i do it again. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
why do you need to switch just buy a mk3m collar, but keep the mk3's that you have already, all work from the same box, otherwise you'll be selling mk3 collars, second hand, therefore getting less than there retail value, and paying out more for new mk3m's, seems silly to me Quote Link to post
Halfinch 51
I use both and I think they are both as good as each other, they both detect, which is what i want, the Mk3m seems more watertight but i dont ferret in rivers, the only draw back with it is, as someone already said, you can forget to turn it on, i guess the only drawback i have found with the Mk3 is you have to remove the batteries after use, but if someone is too lazy to spend 10 seconds removing the batteries, then surely they won't want to walk miles ferreting. If you need another collar, get the Mk3m, but i wouldn't bother "upgrading" to one. Quote Link to post
Guest Magwitch
MK3M uses a leather strap as standard, no need to take the batteries out after use and is completely watertight so you can run them under the tap for cleaning. The only drawback I found is that they take different batteries.................... Quote Link to post

John-B 4
only drawback i have found with the standard mk3 collars are the collars themselves, had to dig twice for them as the ferret has managed to get it off underground. Quote Link to post

john hubery 9
The nylon collar on the M3 dose slip off you should swap them for a leather one,, when we sold M3 locators I would give a leather collar away with each set because of this, what ever you are thinking of buying make it fast and pick you suppliersoon because Deben have just given traders a big price hike, so if you can get collars or locator at the old price snap them up now new price on collars £65.00 locators £169.00 Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
MK3m's are the dogs danglies, come with a leather collar, dont have to take the batteries out when you get back, and more waterproof than the MK3's, three good reasons to buy them, and all this crap about forgetintg to switch them on befoure you go out, you do the same collar check that you do with any collar to check the batteries are live, before you leave home, your ferret collars should be scanned before you put them down, I've had MK3' batteries go flat in the field when the cold hits them.
