rutland12 0
Recently took delivery of a tikka t3 hunter 223 . Lucky enough it has a lovely bit of wood ! I gave up waiting for the sako 85 after 5 months especially as my LFD told me that it was going to cost me 25% more. I picked this one up at the old price of £630. (just a bit over half the new price of the sako) Well I have taken advice from many websites on breaking in and have spent 3 sessions of fire once, clean for 10 then fire 3 for ten etc. Finally tried some ammo at 100yds Remington accutip 50 gr tried first. After firing the first groups my heart sank....ALL OVER THE PLACE ...could have done better with my 12 bore !! Next I try some american eagle 50 gr hollow point . This was better , just bigger than 1 inch groups. Next I use what I guessed would be best . Just had a feeling about norma 50 gr vmax. Touching groups !!! Then tried the most expensive stuff the federal v shock 55 gr. Suprised as this was not as good as the norma even though it cost £6 a box more. Finally I moved the target as far back as possible which was 156 yds as measured on the rangefinder. Tried the norma again and was amazed to get touching group again just a quarter of an inch low. The federal was again just a little wider. I finished up pleased as punch and went home happy. My new set up also includes my zeiss conquest 6x20x50 and wildcat 8 mod. Quote Link to post

Tikkas are a little ammo fussy, but less so than many makes, what twist is yours!!! I have the T3 Lite Stainless in .223, 1-8 twist, and it will shoot Wolf 55g HP (18pence each, £18 per 100) into 1" at 100 yards, but I know many guns hate the Wolf!! Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Tikka T3's do seem ammo fussy - except yours you lucky sod! Quote Link to post
